Still trying to understand why Carmichael isn’t even named in the extended squad. Dominating in the VFL & hitting the scoreboard hard. At some stage the kid will get disheartened.
Only 26 allowed, so only 1 room for a mid
We were saying this about fin last week when he wasnt included lol

We don’t want to flirt with our form but I think Geelong showed the benefits of resting players during the season with an eye on the bigger picture. They were prepared to go into a game with a good player on the sidelines to give themselves every chance of being at their best on the last day of the season.
If we win this week the next two games are a good opportunity to rest a player or two.
There is an extra round this year as well so a rest could be more beneficial than ever.

So far during Fly's tenure, that's probably the only knock I have on him so far

He talks about "Selection integrity" and yet you'll see players who dominate the VFL fairly consistently not getting games, but then you'll see them select...Chugg, out of nowhere.

Coaches always assure us that if a player isn’t being picked, they will always know exactly why and what they need to work on.

By our eye a player could be tearing it up in the seconds, but if he’s not two way running enough / tacking hard enough / manning the structures quick enough, then he’s not going to be pushing for selection.

Every time I watch him a does a couple of things that are AFL quality, but then barely anything else. I didn't see the game on the weekend but it said he had 20 disposals and 3 goals, sounds like a bit of breakout game?
Still only 19 and is that sort of player Fly likes, can imagine he's waiting for one of those small forwards to slip up on someone like Jamie having a break.
It’s strange, some blokes kill it at VFL but they just don’t work at AFL level
Others float in and out of games in the VFL, not dominating, but they are just made for the needs of AFL
Forward of the ball is his go at the moment but he’d be a fantastic mid if he can make the step up
I want to see if his skill set translates bc if they do, w his speed and size, he could be a very very valuable asset

Who would Carmichael force out of the side at the moment?

Interesting topic on SEN is how many players we would rest v West Coast, prior to the Kings Birthday match?

For me, Pendles, Sidebottom Elliott and Mitchell definitely. I would consider Mihocek, and if Frampton is back probably Murphy as well. I think Moore would want to play, and l don't think we would rest either of the Daicos boys, unless either one of them is sore and a break would be beneficial.

Cornes said 10. As if Fly would ever be that arrogant. I'd say maybe 2 or 3. And a different 2-3 against North.

I have heard N Daicos is a bit banged up, some of the players do look a bit sore, we could possibily rest some players, but we do have the bye coming up, but our loss to West Coast is still ringing my head though. Bring in players is they deserve a spot.

You wouldn't want N Daicos rested against Carlton! Being a competitive beast, he wouldn't either.

Oh hell no, i just heard he is a bit sore and just talking about possibily resting some players for the West Coast game, which i'm unsure of, cause we post to them last year and just because they are down, i wouldn't take that game lightly either.

Or simply they are fourth in line to fill the role that they play well at in the VFL. When the seniors are playing well you just have to wait your turn.

Assuming that they're not going to use the sub to manage the game time of anyone, the only real sub options this week are Ginni and Markov. Ginni if they want a forward sub and Oleg if they want a defender sub.

Pretty much. And the answer to that question might depend on which end of the ground they prefer WHE to play at.

We'd be a defender short without Markov.

But I'd add WHE and McCreery as potential forwards as sub.

Imagine the melts on here if we drop it. No doubt some panic merchants would be calling us pretenders who can't win the flag.

Pencil in a loss.
Got to happen sometime, and they will lift in response to our tipping them out of the finals in 2022.
Don’t be fooled by the media trying thier best to get the to change the game plan or sharpen up the goal kicking.
Carlton don’t care about that external noise.
They do care about revenge for the job we did on them round 23 2022.

They might not care about external noise, but they'll care that they can't hit the side of a barn with their foot skills.

We pressure them early then panic stations will set in very quickly for the Baggers.

With the inclusion of DC this week, id like AJ as sub. Could be impactful later in a game fresh. Keep the smalls (Ginni,Hill,McCreery buzzing at the feet of the tall Timbers).
Reef sadly makes way again, just can’t slot em all…

AJ is super important for structure. Checkers, AJ and the resting ruck is a strong mix combined with the resting mid plus Bobby, Bllly, McCreery and Elliott. WHE has been pushing forward with strong effect in recent weeks as well.

Ginny is a tad stiff but the obvious sub choice this week. He showed against Sydney that he's impactful with fresh legs late in the game.

A little history - score in Round 19 - 1970 - don't mention the GF score

Great to see Cameron back in the side. Was in good form prior to his injury. Him and Cox provide a good combo with the ability to float back and take an intercept mark or swing forward and hit the scoreboard.

With the extended interchange I reckon there are 3 locks to stay in the 22 - Cameron, Crisp & McCreery.

The last spot and sub will be Ginnivan & Markov. I would personally go with Markov.

McInnes, Harrison (must be close) and Macrae unfortunately miss out but spots are hard to come by.

Pendlebury will be fresh after 58% game time last week and will rise to the occasion. Hopefully starts in the guts alongside Cox, DeGoey and Mitchell.

Cant wait.
