Really...

We are only 4 games out of the 8 and there are 12 games left, still plenty of time to get all the gang back together. This may be our first time since 2018 to have every player on the list who played in the 2018 premiership on the park. Finally Simmo will have something to work with. You watch, going undefeated from here.

Hoping that one of Gaff or Sheed is the sub.

Flynn for Jack Williams is fine

Harry Edwards was very good in the WAFL and probably deserves his chance to replace an ill Rotham. Makes us a touch tall down back though

Gaff effectively for Hunt is an interesting choice. Makes us slower through midfield and whilst Gaff has paid his penance in the WAFL you have to wonder if Trew wasn’t a better, more deserving option.

Petruccelle in for Dewar again is fine provided Petch is in the 22 rather than sub and Dewar could do with a full WAFL game after getting a taste of AFL

Continues the trend from recent weeks of the team skewing older and this is the oldest we’ve been. With Gaff coming back in all 6 of our oldies are in and there’s just 5 from the 20 and under crew

Main overall concerns with the team is too much height in defence and a lack of pace in the midfield

Would’ve preferred either Trew or Culley to be in with one of Gaff or Sheed to miss. Doubt that selection will impact the result all that much though

Time for Sheed and Gaff to repay the faith and not make the MC look silly

Flynn should've had at least one more game in the WAFL before he came back. Clearly not learning our lessons of years before of rushing guys straight back in...and why are we going TALLER in a game that's gonna be wet and waterlogged?

Are we tanking this week?
Going tall because we have no 3rd tall defenders apart from Rotham who is not very good and Bazzo who is long term injured.

Hewards had an excellent WAFL outing, and has been solid for a while now.
Was unlucky to go out when he did as well so from a form perspective it's fine.
From a balance point of view it's odd, maybe we want to try and free up Gov or Barrass even more?

Yeah more tall and the conditions than form. And add Flynn.

changes would have been palatable if gaff replaced sheed.

sorry not sorry i cant make the game this weekend.

The dissappointment of this game could rival that monday night game against Norf when it was pissing wet and we lost.
I was at that North game, will be there on the weekend, will let you know how they compare.

If you have ever wondered how much cash the 2018 Grand Final goal winning kicker has accumulated, from adoring fans around the state, since that amazing goal and more importantly how he spent the cash.

The hand over of The Simpson File .

Masten to Sheed.

HEdwards was dominant in the WAFL and deserves the call up, will let Gov play 3rd tall and float around HB taking intercepts
This is the one that confuses me the most. Against a not particularly tall forwardline, I just don’t see the matchup unless the plan is for Gov to be 100% unaccountable, shake hands with a small and let them piss off up the field.

Funny thing is his form absolutely warrants a game, but I’d think the same applies for Trew or Culley and there’s actually a no brainer midfield spot up for grabs this week.

I don't understand these decisions at all, sorry.

Dewar was a must play given the conditions will be slippery at a bare minimum.

Gaff and Sheed in the same side reeks of Simpson not learning his lessons at all about the need for pace and efficient ball movement. It's really disappointing to see them both in the side.

Going in taller with the week we've had.

Let's pray for some late changes.
Has late changes written allover it.
Maric of no use when you got B Williams, J Darling and Waterman fwd, knowing Oscar is next week or 1st game after bye. I think Culley in for Maric, Trew in for Sheed late changes. I also dont get H Edwards inclusion in the wet when we will want runners.

Maybe this is Gaff's last chance.

If Sheed is getting another game it's very disappointing that credits in the bank mean more then actual performance. Makes me seriously question Simmo and if his the right man for the rebuild. We need games into kids that will take us into the future. Not a plodder that's going backwards. Culley earned his chance.

If Sheed had of got 25 disposals and had some meaningful impact on the game I would of let it slip but he had like 6 touches and it's been like that since he came back.

Assuming this is Gaffs farewell game. I'd hate to see both of them playing on the weekend.

Half my mind is thinking that they've added these interesting selections so they can make last minutes changes to the side.

Worst part is I’m right there with you.

First time in a long time I'm doing this, but revisiting my post from like 10 minutes ago. I say this in all sincerity without a drop of overreaction but I'm legit horrified by the selections this week. I think someone needs to direct these blokes to the nearest window and see what's instore for them on Saturday..I can already see the deluge of posts on Saturday night saying we lost this game at the selection table..I'm aghast.

Good lord these are awful changes.

After a near 100 point drubbing this is the best the MC can come up with? I thought we'd moved past this crap.

Sheed had 6 disposals and 0 tackles FFS. How on earth is that accepted for a bloke of his experience and stature and why wasn't he instantly made an example of this week? A leader doing the exact opposite of leading.

The Gaff inclusion looks a lot less dumb if the above has already happened. Gaff is pointless, serves no purpose and is the furthest thing from a sensible addition IF it's a wet weather game. That said, at least he's gone and spent a large block in the WAFL so hopefully he's at least got the heart muscle turned on.

Would also have preferred to leave Flynn in the WAFL for at least another week. Big lump who's clearly short of a gallop or three, going to come straight back in to ruck against a quality endurance beast like Rohan Marshall in potentially wet game no less. Even in dry conditions it's just dumb. A risk we don't need to be taking. We've rushed players back numerous times and it seems we're doing it again.

Trew missing out is also garbage. What exactly is the point of retaining that bloke on the list when he still can't get a crack in conditions that suit him, after being BOG in his grade, and watching the senior mids above him fail to fire a shot at AFL level. He was an absoute shoo in inclusion. Makes no sense.

After a 100 pt loss here's the message we send

OMITTED - Dewar (2 games), J.Williams 20 games

Inb4 our tall backs dominate the game and intercepts everything

Saints are pretty horrific inside 50, if Gov can get loose he will be BOG

Trying to be clinical about it, as Keys has done a nice job of.

Flynn for JWill - ✅. Proper ruckman will help the mids. JWill is going to be huge for us and I’d like him to continue to get games but for pure best 22 this is a no brainer. Bailey forward and better at ground level than JWill.

HEdwards for Rotham - ✅* On form well worth a pick, no obvious matchup but might free Gov up. Barrass on King, HEdwards on Membrey? If it all lines up, Gov to have a monster game.

Petch for Dewar - ✅. Sad for Ty, I think he’s deserving of a proper crack and don’t understand the point of sub appearances this early in a career, then back to the WAFL. But Petch has had a nice year, has even got a decent game or two against St Kilda in his back pocket from memory. If he’s ready, he plays, happy with that.

Gaff for Hunt - ❌. Oh boy. Hate the inclusion as much as I hate the retention of Trew if a 36/10clearance game can’t get him in a midfield that got done by 99 last week.

My hope is Petch plays higher up the ground, as he’s done a bit of this year. Big game from Ryan needed. Not nearly enough creativity up forward, but equally let’s not pretend that Culley or Trew bring speed to the team. What I do think they bring though is selection integrity - Gaff has been passable in the WAFL but I just don’t see how this plays out in our favour short or long term.

Sheed to sub plz, or tag off the HFF while Gaff subs.

Agreed but if we get done in the middle they’ll stop kicking it to him and ground ball it in for their smalls.

Losing I can handle. I’ve watched lord knows how many losses over the last few years. Losing while we let one of the worst players in footy, Liam Henry, have his first ever good day will be sickening.
