Re: Round 12 - Carlton v Brisbane @ Etihad Stadium Sunday June 12 at 1.10PM

Honestly...Without Merrett we should destroy Brisbane on the weekend.
He is almost their most important player...probably just behind Brown IMO.

Henderson should be brought in and play 3 talls in Henderson, Hampson and O'hAilpin (guessing that Waite will miss)...

Bring on Sunday.

Re: Round 12 - Carlton v Brisbane @ Etihad Stadium Sunday June 12 at 1.10PM

I wouldn't go taller in the forward line just because Merrett won't be playing. We should stick to the structures that have gotten us to 4th of the ladder. All this is going to do is make Brisbane's job all the more harder, and we could see a cricket score kicked on Sunday afternoon.

Doc Sherrin's training report 7th June 2011 ............

Great read. :thumbsu:

Training 7th June 2011

Very enjoyable read.

Hendo, Kreuzer and Bower will make a huge difference to the structure of this team.

Imagine Walker getting a medium/small defender instead of a KPD!

Re: Round 12 - Carlton v Brisbane @ Etihad Stadium Sunday June 12 at 1.10PM

Boy that is a huge out for them, unfortunate for Merrett, he and Jammo have been in the form defenders...they are severly undermanned down back, we should destroy them

Re: Round 12 - Carlton v Brisbane @ Etihad Stadium Sunday June 12 at 1.10PM

Doc Sherrin is almost right, it is hard to think of another player who went at it with the same reckless abandon as Mitch. I can only think of one more who played for Carlton in recent times...also happened to have a tinge of the ginge.

Re: Round 12 - Carlton v Brisbane @ Etihad Stadium Sunday June 12 at 1.10PM

Feel sorry for Merrett, a back injury is very unpredictable and once its injured it can continue to re accure for the rest of your life. This is exactly what i done, and now after 4 back operations im still not alot better, so i really hope he gets it right and fully takes the time needed to repair his body. A Huge loss for the Lions..

Re: Round 12 - Carlton v Brisbane @ Etihad Stadium Sunday June 12 at 1.10PM

Hopefully this game will be somewhat of a percentage booster for Carlton, even if Waite doesnt come up for this game we have alot of great players pushing for selection, Carlton by 67 points..

Re: Round 12 - Carlton v Brisbane @ Etihad Stadium Sunday June 12 at 1.10PM

Are people really impressed with Hampson's work so far?

Lost the ruck battle with Stef Martin who is hardly a big name, let alone the fact he had no back-up and would of been running on empty by the last two quarters. Then he beats Dean Brogan who has hurt his knee (impedes jumping at ruck contests) and lacerates his hand (can't tap it with that hand), who also had limited back-up, which meant Hammer was allowed to ruck against Trengove.

I won't buy the playing injured deal either, if his finger injury is so bad he wouldn't be playing.

I don't dislike Hammer. But his form isn't exhilarating given the opposition and against quality like Leunberger and Clark he could really get trounced.

Our best pair is Kreuzer and Warnock. I can't wait to see them again

Re: Round 12 - Carlton v Brisbane @ Etihad Stadium Sunday June 12 at 1.10PM

With Merrett out, this is the perfect time to bring in Henderson. Waite and Hendo have a huge chance to find some form.

Yes from me.

From what I saw at the ground he was beating Brogan before Brogan got injured.

I say we do what the Joker did in the Dark Knight. Give Hampson and Warnock half a pool cue each and let them fight to the death for a spot in the 21 and a half......wait what? I meant, lets not dump Hampson to the 2s after probably his best game this season.

The 'keeping a players confidence up by not dropping them after their best game' system doesn't apply to Hampson.

When you look like that, and with the track record he has, i can't imagine him ever having a confidence problem :p

Yes from me.

Completely Agree, dominated the first half against Port, was winning hitouts to advantage, taking more marks and was clean below his knees, can't remember him having played a better game.

That being said, his performance was around par if not slightly below Warnocks early season form, so his head is still on the block.

Against Luen' and Clark, Warnock would be the safe bet, which will be unfortunate for Hammer if that is the way selection falls.

Re: Round 12 - Carlton v Brisbane @ Etihad Stadium Sunday June 12 at 1.10PM

Yeah i'd like to see Hammer given at least another week actually.

We know once finals comes Warnock will be our man. The more games Hammer can get the better so it's a seamless transition if Warnock cops an injury at the business end. Touch wood he doesn't.[/

How about we pick the one who can actually play and will be a crucial part of our finals side. Hampson is on par with Blake as the most useless ruck man I have seen.

Re: Round 12 - Carlton v Brisbane @ Etihad Stadium Sunday June 12 at 1.10PM

I just wonder how Warnock will go for the remainder of the season, given we don't have our second bye until round 23. He clearly struggled with carrying the majority of the ruck load so far, and may need to be rested again leading into the final third of the H&A season.

Having re-watched that I will disagree. Broke even with Brogan at first, only really dominated after Brogan's injury. Not saying we should drop him, but he is getting a little over-hyped around here for my liking. Kreuzer and Warnock still the top

here are our options:
backline: In Goose out Merrett. dont be surprised if clark lines up at CHB...he does his best work behind the play.
Forward: Brown with Retzlaff and Cornelious in for a 3rd tall target (if clark helps out down back.

outs are from teh following
merrett (injured)
bewick (subbed out last week at 1/2 time - poor form+++)
Austin
Sheldon
collier
O'Brien

In;s
drummond
rockliff
Goose
Buchanan
Hawksley
harwood

eitherway...we will get pumped by 10 goals)

Time for Voss to put the cue in the rack for 2011.
Get some games into the kids, and look towards 2012.

I agree.

In order to do this, he needs to put some of his more experienced players in for season ending..... ummm...... finger surgery. Yeah. That'll do.

The sad thing is our team is already loaded with just about every kid we can play. We only have one more player that was drafted last year that hasn't debuted (3 of them are injured) and then there is only one other player on our senior list that hasn't played a senior game this year (Bartlett) who is coming back from a knee reco. Cue is already in the rack and not by choice.

efa!

Footy games don't always go according to script. I don't have a short memory, we were in a very similar situation to you guys not too long ago while at the time you guys were winning 3 premierships (nearly 4) in a row!

We were rubbish, BUT we pulled out the odd good performance here and there and pushed top sides. IIRC at the Gabba in 2002 you guys were firm flag favourites while we were firm wooden spoon favourites and we got within 16 points. Another time in 2003 at OO we were up by 36 points until you guys went on a rampage and smashed us but I would not feel comfortable if we let you guys get out to a 6 goal lead like that.

Really, we should win by about 70 points as we have a far greater side than you this year BUT my head tells me we'll win by roughly 20-30 points based primarily on our poor accuracy this year and you guys would want to account for the poor performance you dished up last week.
