Yeah who cares how good you were in your first 250 games. Completely irrelevant.

Grow up
The irony is you’re right. The first 250 don’t matter if your next 20 are no good.

Think I’ve found Fages alt account, since you want to gift games on past deeds.

We have a bit of a false economy of experience. Rich and Gunston's output ain't good unfortunately.

I think our best team has Ah Chee playing Prior's role and Rich replaced by Coleman. Zorko back in for Dev (who was pretty good).

Agreed with the first two changes, but Dev has to stay in. Was arguably in our top 3 on the ground in the first half.

Don’t know who for, probably Berry at this stage. Know he’s a good player but just hasn’t done anything (good OR bad) since the Melbourne game

Funny thing is you could have posted this exact same thing after the prelim loss in 2020 and it would have still been true.

Nothing has really improved.

Better personnel in the midfield this year has papered over the cracks. But when they get beat they get beaten really badly.

I wonder if Cam Bruce is a little embarrassed that he can’t get more out of this group or if he’s just enjoying the grift.

I was at the game as a neutral, Hawks were just camped around your F50 line counter attacking with ease, Dunkley went to Newcombe in the 3rd then Berry was given a shot. Few turnovers early where Rich was just flat footed, would've looked like a bad disposal on TV but he just stood there.

Even the neutrals know Rich is a liability. 😂😂😂

Ah well, its a shame. I don't think it's the MCG though, I think it was more the bye. I also don't know that anyone would say we are mentally tough. We apply effort based on ladder position, and we generally don't have the willpower to turn it on when it's off. They just kinda expect it'll happen.

Bailey - nowhere. Just nothing.
Coleman - will not run defensively. Brought him on at 3QT and we still see players running past him like he's standing still. I was surprised, a little concerned, and also a bit impressed when the coaches omitted him. Then they didn't. Groan.

Dev needs to stay now. That was an AFL level game from him.

It was an afl level first half and then he disappeared. He got a bunch of chances on ball too in the third quarter - wasn’t like we were putting him as a pressure forward.

Far from the worst list and will keep his spot, but I’ve seen nothing that makes me desperate to retain him at the end of the year. Hope he proves me wrong.

On expectation that was easily one of the most disappointing games to sit through since Fagan came on board.

1- I thought we were over getting towelled up on run and spread footy, we were lucky not to be beaten by more... 10 goals to 3 after half time says it all.
2- Rich and Gunston are massive liabilities, we play 2 short on defensive run... losing patience with Berry and Bailey their best is fantastic but it is too rare... albeit IMO small forward is Bailey's role.
3- I mentioned this last year but are we absolute 100% dog hungry enough to win flags or are we that few percent off that makes all the difference.
4- Dev Robertson was very good, should be given a fair dinkum run of games. Prior was ordinary, Hipp very good, Dunkley good, Payne good.. a couple of those goals to Lewis he had no chance due to turnovers from us.

There was something a bit off about the love in with Rayner , Fages and Clug on that show in my mind. I just don't think we have enough hardness in the team from players who've been around a long time.

Maybe the coach needs to get a bit more distant and ruthless. We stink it up too often in games that require real extra effort.

If we were a middle of the road team talent wise it's all cool but we keep talking about flag windows and play as if we've already got a couple in the bag.

The other question that arises is are we that good ?

Richy was obviously carrying something today and no way he should've played.

What we're still doing playing Gunston and talking him up as if he's helped us in any way who would know.

It’s clear we’re not a high possession side, but there’s different game styles required for different games.

Allowing Hawthorn to basically walk around us with handball chains was one of the most disappointing (and predicable) things I’ve seen from the Lions in ten years.

There just has to be adjustments made at some point. We need to get more run out of our players. More handballs and more providing small leads. The long kicks require contested marks - that hasn’t fired for a long time now.
I didn’t watch the game, was at work,so had the game on the radio.
A few takes from the commentary.
Lions refusing or honouring leads.
Multiple times.
The biggest call is what I’ve said at games the last three years.
We beat teams on talent not system, that was mentioned by your favourite BT.
Nothing has changed in three years.
Someone mentioned we should bring McKenna into the game more for run,but the problem is our methods or ball movement, run and gun has been ignored for territory footy.f..keven a bottom four side can roll us with our absolutely predictable movement.
Something has to change
It’s the system more than the squad
We have the players, not the methods.
