Dee's played their best game for the year. We played our worst along with the Lions game at the Gabba.

When we play our best, or even just marginally better than yesterday, I wouldn't be concerned about the Dee's in the slightest.

I also have no issue naming a player who has trained fully and passed all fitness tests. As did Lippa.
I tend to agree - take out the fumbling and our game plan would have stood up.
The issue going fwd is we need to stop Melb’s contested dominance- it’s the engine room that provides their drive.
If we nullify that then it’s curtains- much like our win last year where we we reversed their contested dominance in the 2nd half.

I'm glad he's back too. Wouldn't have played him but as I said, not the biggest issue. Biggest issue is how we move forward knowing that one team has a system that matches us.
I actually think it’s a gift - now we have 10 weeks to build strategy to overcome Melb. They’ve shown us their cards - so better to adjust now than be knocked out in a final.

I’m still struggling to understand the correlation between Noble being pushed out of the 22 and Nicks position on the ground, or why it would even matter. That’s why I’m dubious.
I'd have thought it was easy. I want Noble to stay and mentioned two defenders who could play elsewhere on the ground so he might retain his spot - Daicos and Frampton.

Obviously not but fact is we lost both games to better game plans on the day. Id rather fix it now than come finals time. You're comment implies i would rather lose the games which is ridiculous. The fact is we did lose the games so we learn and move forward.

I think you’re right. Brisbane and Melbourne both beat us by pushing up and taking away our forward handball chains. This shows other clubs the model to beat us. We now have to work out a plan to be able to adjust when this style is applied to us.

Cox said in his podcast today that he had Covid last week and a number of players missed training. Can't recall if he named an actual number. He was also keen to stress it wasn't an excuse.

And he's off to Bali.
Yep. The club also said during the week Cox, Maynard & Daicos were affected by flu or covid.

If flu or covid affected more of our players during the game, I take that as a positive. Dee's played their best game of the year, we clearly didn't, yet got within 4 points 😆

Most of the commentators are now saying Dee's are flag favourites.

Which is great news. We played crap. They didn't. We got within a goal.

Happy days.
So i assume the narrative will be Melbourne are peaking too early now?

That's great news imo. We played crap. They played one of their better games for the year, bar their inaccuracy. And we got within a goal.

Happy days.
I couldn't be more confident we can reverse that result if we played again

It would have been easy if that’s what you had actually said 🤷🏻

Agreed. I'd love to meet them again, without any flu/covid, full week of training, JDG, Sidebottom, few more games into Lippa, a fired up Ginni, the forward structure Fly envisaged when he recruited McStay, Howe. I'm sure I've left someone else out..

Bring it on.

Bayley Fritch is probably 185cm but with his hairstyle hes 217cm so we might have got the match up wrong

Isn't he the most unlikeable player? How was his free from falling over? Only a minute earlier same thing happened to Murphy & the ump totally ignored it ..
I dont mind him its just his hair that pisses me off. Looks like hes snuck into the show and trying to get on the big boy rides with some extra height

My friend who I was sitting with yesterday was like--- he has such a punchable face lol

Gee there were some ridiculous decisions being made by the boys yesterday.

Maybe we didn't have any forwards in position but Noble going the unnecessary handball in the middle and turning it over for a Dees goal. We were out.

WHE missing a sitter... if he kicks that maybe we get momentum earlier than the final 2 mins and we're a chance.

Can't believe Reef didn't get a kick away.

Played like s**t and still nearly won. Nothing to see here at this stage.
It was the perfect storm in some ways yesterday. Nothing went right, the ball bounced agsinst us, Pendles was unPendles like and everybody in our forward line had poor games. So many poor decisions. Dont know if they were flat, sick, had hit the wall or Melbourne's pressure or a bit of eveything.Yet we only lost by 4 points with plenty of what if's, Nobes, Taylor, WHE, McInnes, Bobby, Crisp handballing to a stationary player he could see was about to be tackled as soon as he received it. I am concerned by Cameron's inability to jump and constant hack kicks.
