No more Ross Campbell Jones Membrey

Arie Pou Hugo etc from here.
The 2 rucks for the future is worthy of consideration I don’t think it’s Campbell (good tonight) but changed the mid clearance dynamic
Clear though that our lack of 1 touch composure in there hurts
Be interesting to see how many goals from centre …toward the end they walked it out of there ….we tried hard but run over the ball ..fumble or handball to team mate under pressure
Anyway lots to take from tonight for mine

Agree with Ari and Hugo but feel like Pou would benefit playing as a permanent mid for a bit longer in the VFL before he comes back into the senior side.

Wouldn't mind seeing what Heath could do with Marshall as well.

Umpiring was absolute shit tonight both ways. Way too many frees paid and really stupid technical ones paid and obvious ones missed.
This is right. You see a free paid to either side, and you think that is the standard. Next minute same thing gets ignored. Or something technical suddenly becomes a free when it seems to be the furthest thing from anyone’s mind.

The inconsistency is what infuriates. We got a couple of gifts for sure. But important moments get ruined by these interventions. And a big one hurt us.

I was a bit mystified by that crucial centre bounce that clearly went McInerney's way but wasn't recalled, in the last quarter. Then we get one go our way and it's recalled.
Absolute cheating at its finest - they have no shame - but if asked the afl will tick it off as ok - like a player going back on with a slight spleen and lung injury

Looked to me like we were a bit outclassed and maybe out of petrol. But we gave it a fair crack and looked devastating in the last. A lot to tighten up and for the love of God, please stop leaking goals in red time.

  • Higgins is elite when he kicks straight
  • King tried hard and got some reward but dropped one or two important marks
  • Wood and Wilson were tireless
  • Midfield is a worry. Steele is only average at the moment and Windhager can really only clamp down. Clark and Dow are actually quite important for us but they need to get more of it.
  • Two rucks is interesting, unsure if it’s a long term solution but it changed the look
  • Henry was dynamic in the last quarter and gave us genuine speed on ball, might be a solution
  • Defence was all over the place, seems Howard is an important player down back, as is NWM and Webster
  • Schoenmaker had some lovely kicks but needs to work on the defensive stuff, promising first game

I’ve never had this thought before and I’ve always rated Steele so highly but I’ve had enough now I’d trade him.
I’m not sure he wants to go but someone associated with him was asking the question to other clubs.

The club were definitely taken by surprise

The free kick in the first qtr out of the centre and the commentators were carrying on about the 6 6 6 and no warning wasn’t it just a down the field free kick due to a goal square infringement?
The umpire said goal square so I just assumed it was a free kick against us and paid down the field but no footage was shown.

There is supposed to be a player in the goal square at a restart.

Marshall walked out and Owens didn’t walk back into the goal square.

That happens all the time and the warning is given. Very strange to be a straight free kick.
My apologise channel 7 commentary team and wtf umpires.

We need to fall under Adelaide. (Currently pick 4)

That guarantees us one of Jagga Smith or Sid Draper. (Would be the projected mids at pick 4 As of today)

I'm not sold on Jagga Smith I think he is the least effective of the top rated mids. Last weekend against the Allies he 32 touches for a total of 55 metres gained, which has been highlighted as an issue right throughout the year he has no hurt factor.
