Ins: Simpkin, LDU, Perez,
Outs: Hall, Spicer, Bergman (Rest), Tucker

B: Corr, Mckay, Ziebell
HB: Mcdonald, Logue, Sheezel
C: Scott Simpkin Shiels
HF: Thomas CCJ Stephenson
F: Curtis Larkey Zurhaar
FO: Goldstein LDU Wardlaw

INT: Perez Powell Phillips Ford
Sub: Greenwood

Corr into the starting 22. Dogs will go big with Naughton, JUH, Lobb. Mcdonald onto Weightman.

How good does that forward line look! Need Curtis and Stephenson to actually tackle though and it will become extremely dangerous.

Looking forward to seeing how the midfield mix works of LDU, Simpkin, Wardlaw, Phillips, Powell, Thomas. Genuinely exciting.

Greenwood sub as he can play anywhere on the ground. Tucker stiff but there's actually a bit of a selection squeeze here.

That would be the best side we’ve put out for some time!

In hopes of Stevenson extracting a digit. He needs to step up. Can't be the player that disappears completely every few games.

And i want to see how Spicer and Hansen Jnr go together in our F50. Defensive pressure needs to improve dramatically.
VFL might be your best chance to see that

People should not bother putting LDU up as he won't play this week. Zero chance. He should be back after the bye.
I'd say it will be Simkin and Greenwood as the only two ins. Not sure about the outs though...

It will be interesting. I'm sure that we can all agree that:
Wardlaw > Bont
Phillips > Libba
Simpkin > Treloar
Thomas > McRae
Scott > Smith
Goldy > English

I hope that our mids don't just get complacent and expect an easy win. These dogs players have some potential.

Simpkin and Greenwood in
Am I reading it correctly to say Goldy is a winner over English?

This is in the conversation for the worst takes of all time.

I can tell you right now archer and Dawson aren’t playing

Archer is nowhere near it and coming back from injury and reduced mins. Him and Dawson just ran laps today whilst everyone else trained

Sheezel will play hbf

And you forgot jy coming in
Why Dawson only running laps? Injured?
He played arguably his best game last week in the VFL, should be considered for a call up if fit.

Maybe copped a niggle or managing loads

Needless to say he won’t play ahead of corr or Ziebell this week

1 of those 2 will match up on JUH, naughton or Lobb

I thought that my sarcasm would be obvious...

Their midfield is loaded with established talent, is my point.
It was completely obvious.

He's still a bit away physically, and has played about 10 games.
Yeah. That's a solid chunk of football he's played this year after almost none. He's still a couple of seasons away minimum to be able to deliver 20+ solid games each year. Probably needing a bit of a rest and refresh.

OK one from left field:

Out: Goldstein (rest), Hall (omit), Bergman (rest), Curtis (to sub), Corr.

In: Greenwood, Perez, Simpkin, Lazarro.

We are likely to lose in the ruck anyway, so give an ageing warrior two weeks rest to freshen up and throw a spanner in the tactical works.
Greenwood, CCJ and Logue can cover the ruck.

We need run, run and more run: Scott, Tucker, Laz, Shiels, Stevo, Ford etc. need to be up and down the fast track all game. Stifle their outside game by going with them relentlessly. Back Jy, Phillips, Wardlaw and Greenwood to get it done inside.

Rotate Powell and TT off half back with Sheezel and Perez. Gets Hall out of the side. Curtis as sub has genuine X-factor and can come on and turn the game with car-winning goals. They'll be looking for a flat-track easy kill, come out firing early, convert our chances and hold the **** on.
You know it makes sense.

North by 4 goals.

Not the game to drop Goldy. Quite aside from the fact that moving Logue away from the backline is suicide against a forward line comprising JUH, Naughton and Lobb, English is an ok matchup for Goldy. He isn't the physical type and across the season Goldy slightly edges him out in hitouts and hitouts to advantage, which we'll need to maximise.

You've stated the need for run. Tucker doesn't provide that, he's much more a footballer than an athlete. Shiels is a two way player and a bloody hard worker but isn't a runner. Neither of them will be much use if the Dogs get the transition going. If Lazz could take a wing for a bit it'd be brilliant but at the level he looks even more out of his depth than Spicer. Whoever plays on the wings are gonna be ****ing exhausted. Come to think of it, the whole team will.

LIke the rest of it. Half back rotations look reasonable, Curtis as sub with his complete lack of fitness is good.

Dogs by 59, and if we get a result better than that, I won't be furious

I'm mostly joking re: the ruck, but in my scenario it would be Greenwood taking (and conceding centre bounces), with CCJ and Logue rucking in their respective thirds. We'd have to read English's taps. It won't happen but we're gonna have to pull something out of the box to beat them unless they don't show up...

Fair enough, but the Dogs midfield isn't really who you want to be trying to shark taps against.

If I had to pick a point of difference, it'd be a slightly revamped version of what you said. Powell permanently at half back cos why the **** not, and a setup with TT and Sheez whereby one of them is also always at half back. The other one can maybe roam around half forward. I see those three as the ones most likely to cause problems that the Dogs won't see coming from a million miles away. Ideally it'd improve our decision making and class coming out of defence, as well as going into the attacking 50, two areas in which we suck.

Again though, who the **** knows. If we win this we have to get 90% of it right. Idek if we could do that on the training ground against the cones
