He did display signs of fear. Even the commentary team said he looked scared, and that was just when he was taking a kick on the half back line.

1. Commentators say some pretty stupid things though....

We're starting to sound a bit like Dimma did with David Schwartz.

Phillips was hiding out there. I have never thought much of him as a player but this year he has shown very little. Tonight he displayed nothing; he was weak at the contest. I don't mind his mistakes it's the lack of heart. He looked scared, for a senior player that's inexcusable. Players like Gavin Brown have worn the jumper, if Phillips had a small fraction of his courage and commitment it would be enough.

Sorry you feel disappointed but I stand by my comments.

My own sporting background shouldn't matter. I've not played for Collingwood but I know what I saw tonight and being a moderator here doesn't mean I can't call it out. I hope the coach tells him what he needs to hear during the review.
The unfortunate thing is, he’s not on his own being week at the contest.

3rd quarter:

Bris:7.11 to Coll 6.4.

Now I know we have a few north guys playing, BUT, anyone else notice that we can’t score in the 2”s either... been consistent across firsts and ressies...

What the hell is going on... is it lack of talent, lack of structure....This is actual crisis levels.

His not your average 200cm player, worth trying I reckon.

Many think the ruck is his best position. I would not mind see him roaming freely around the ground and see how the opposition approaches this. They moved McStay back when he went forward they said on the radio just before and we saw that last night so it could get interesting. I remember he had a brief spell in 2017 in the ruck and he looked quite good when Grundy missed some games with a sore back.

I dont care if he takes the centre bounce or not. I think I'd rather Grundy in there, but once the ball is in play, just let him roam.

Just for those calling Phillips soft, a marshmallow and afraid. We all get upset after a loss and yes, players sometimes hesitate. Most players have moments they wish they could have again. That doesn't mean they are afraid or gutless. They're human.

I'm not big on dragging players after a poor performance.

I don't think his physical courage is lacking, but I do think he suffers from FOFU.

Fear of _ucking up.

In high-pressure situations, he craps his dacks a bit.

I am not happy that he is injured but I do hope that by the time we get to finals he has been unfortunately 'squeezed out' of our best 22.

Without his turnovers last night, Brisbane could not have amassed a winning score.

I am similarly hoping that Callum finds himself without a berth in the 22 by finals.

If we have Treloar, Sidebottom, De Goey and Howe instead of Phillips, C Brown, Lynch and WHE from last night's side, I think that team can beat anyone, anywhere

I've never read a more savage appraisal of a player's performance from you lenny.

I agree, Callum had his worst game of the year and Flippa was an embarrassment to the jumper.

Neither deserve a spot in next week's team. Diabolical performance from Stevo, Checkers, and Grundy tonight.

I prefer Moore in defence but I'm glad Buckley threw him forward.

Tyler will be a gun and I love that IQ plays like he has 100 games under his belt.

If either of Howe or Langdon were playing we'd have won this game.

EDIT: I hate that some of our players won't back themselves to take a shot and choose to handpass sideways to a teammate under pressure. It's like they want to hide out there.

Can't find the original comment by a moderator which has probably been deleted. Certainly an unnecessary remark.

There was my original remark. I did not delete it and will stand by my words.

EDIT: I get that we want to defend players we like or hold in high esteem but I have a right as a poster to voice my opinion of Phillips' contribution and people have a right to disagree. Labelling my comment appalling because I'm a moderator is bulls*it, we are not saints but volunteers that happen to be passionate Collingwood fans; deal with it.

There are lot's things said on bigfooty which are seized on by others as reflective of your values and morality when in fact the words were never meant to be read in that context. One carelessly worded comment can be game changing once the morality vultures swoop on it and damn you for it.

Bad luck tonight, felt like you blokes were the better team for three quarters. I have a funny feeling we'll be meeting in the first week of finals, hopefully in Perth with a crowd.

Luck? That was completely self inflicted, absolute rabble of a team - only a stellar defence keeping us in it. We could play you at the g, mars, optus an alternate universe and won't get within 12 goals.

IF we make finals we'll just be fodder for whoever. Nah we're fargin rubbish, don't deserve to be there.

As a Perth resident, I won't even bother trying to get a seat we're that bad, in fact I probably won't watch it on tv knowing you'll have the softest win in the stadiums short history.

Intensity was there tonight. But the majority of our skill errors were just plain unforgivable.

Can't expect to beat a middle of the park side with the pathetic skills we displayed tonight, let alone be competitive in the finals.

We had the game on our terms for most of the night, so there's no ******* excuse for losing a game like this. Simple as that.

This! Even with intent we can't beat an out of form team down two rotations, just exposes how poor our depth is. Depth that's a funny term and can't be used for this squad coz there is none.

Anyone here think we're still contenders this year? Or will be contenders next year? If so that would be some form reversal wouldn't it, it would also unearth unlikely skill sets for our consistently poorly skilled players, the likes no one has seen before.

Can anyone on here see that sort of form reversal and never seen before development in our fringe players that will have us contending in the same time frame before Pendles retires?

I would add Sier to that list of ins.I think he showed in the few games he played that he is probably our best clearance player, certainly our best centre square clearance player. He's definitely in our best 22 for me.

We'll need to win the rest of our games to finish 3rd or 4th and I think we'll lose one or both of our next two. We are copping it with injury lately (not to the extent you have though).

Ok let's look at the extent, best 22 missing for the Pies:

Howe
Degoey
Treloar
Langdon (hasn't played this year, so irrelevant)
Beams (hasn't played this year, so irrelevant)
Sides

For WC:

Schuey
Kennedy
Yeo
Petrucelle
Waterman
Rioli (hasn't played this year, so irrelevant)

I'd consider your 5 best 22 in your team, not to mention Rioli who yes has not played this year.

So what's the Pies excuse for bottom 4 form? I'd like to know your view on that, for mine I reckon we're just over rated and really are a bottom 6 team at best.

I think you're forgetting that we had some a grade talent out last night. You don't think Howe,Degoey,Sidebottom,Treloar,Sier would have made a difference to the final result? Those playeers would have made us a 7 or 8 goal better team last night. They're miles better than some of the players that were running around last night.
