Did you even bother looking who got moved that year? I cant see any high profile moves at all in that list, certianly no players worth north of 600k which was what Billings was defintely on at a minimum.

3 times he was top 10 if that helps. Youre completey ignoring the sizeable chunk of very good football he has played in a 150 game career so far.
Fancy paying him north 600k a year and there is the problem with our club

He is GOP but he isn’t the answer going forward

Dunno about that mate. 3 out of 10 in a side that wasn't playing finals.

He's probably worth half of that. I'd keep him as depth on 300 odd a year, otherwise ship him off. Billings and Gresham probably over a mill between them free up some space for actual talent.

He did say that, but our win loss record was looking a lot better back then and our season wasn't on the line.

I'll be surprised if he doesn't give him a go at some stage.

Yeah, pretty much our season. First half of the year we thought that we never had to see some of these old guys again and we were cocky enough to want them delisted. Season starts to fall over and we are back to placing our hope in Seb Ross and Jack Billings again.

Seriously though if your depth is Jack Billings quality you are going okay. I'd love to see what he can do under Rossy. He is a class player as frustrating as he's been.

Anyone else think we won't see Billings play for us again?

Has he been told by Ross he won't play again similar to how Ratts told Dunstan he wouldn't get a game?

It does happen.

I doubt it. That would be extremely unprofessional. Ross Lyon is a lot of things but unprofessional isn't one of them.

Just looking at the team the Eagles put up over the weekend, on paper it's a bit hard to know why they're so sh*t. Certainly doesn't look like the worst team of the modern era?

B. Duggan, Barass, Witherden

HB. Petrevski-Seton, Bazzo, Hunt

C. Edwards, Yeo, Gaff

HF. Long, Darling, Hewett

F. Maric, Allen, Petrucelle

R. Williams, Kelly, Shuey

IC. Sheed, Ginbey, Hough, Williams.
Coz they don't give a shit.
They're tanking.

And the way RTB talks about him it would be fair to say he doesn’t rate him

Gotta say for a bloke that is only learning about the team I would hope he hasn't written blokes off who haven't had the chance to prove him wrong in the Seniors.

I'd rather see them get the chance rather than them leave for peanuts.

even if he got whiff of Billings wanting out/and or having already arranged his next contract, happens all the time

He's got a contract. If anything Ross won't play players who haven't had a long training block so that they hit the side running. If you've had a long lay off expect a 6 week mini preseason. Not sure how many weeks he's been back training but once he's up to speed he'll be up for selection. If they see him as a one position forward then he might be waiting until injury or form pushes one of the others out.

how big was Caminiti's training block 3 weeks out from the start of the season?

He seemed to get a game without even a preseason as an 18 yo and had never played AFL before...

He was specifically grabbed at the last minute because we had Membrey and King out. If we'd held him back we wouldn't have had Cordy and a few kids.

so at a time when there are literally no AFL capable players, meaning we are as desperate now as we were in the weeks leading up to R1 but Jack isn't seen as being capable of improving our side but Caminiti was...seems inconsistent to me.

I think I'll go with Jack has played his last game for us.

Caminiti was training with the VFL squad and probably also training on his own to be fit with trainer. Billings is off a broken leg and a series of other injuries. His fitness base would have been coming from much further back and his recent run of injuries should make them a bit more careful than they would be with a last minute ring in that they had little expectation of other than filling a position until our stars were back.

Billings not getting a game after 1 run at Sandy
Connolly with 15 touches yesterday won't get game

We are no position to say lets rest Steele and Pou its only West coast
I checked the player stats for all of Sandy's games, it turns out Billings has played 6 games at Sandy this season, Rounds 5,7,8,9,10 and 14.
I thought i'd seen him play more than once this season.

Steely came back 4 weeks after his broken bone, Jeremy Howe has no right to be on an AFL football field after his broken bone injury. So many examples of players, especially very experienced and seasoned high DP picks coming straight back into the seniors after serious injury, especially when their team is in finals contention.

Jack is gone.
