What an insane season. Haven't we suffered enough as supporters? 🥵 🤣

Rd 16 coming up

St Kilda 5th

9th Geelong
10th Suns
11thFreo
12th Rich

Sydney v Geelong
Suns v Pies
Dogs v Freo
Lions v Rich

We beat West Coast* and we're likely 1 game ahead of 9th and looking at those games it's Sydney losing at home coming off a 171 point win that would be the non favourite against Geelong.
If Sydney, Pies, Dogs, Lions all win we are 2 games ahead of 9th going into round 17.

*That's if we win against West Coast (surely, surely surely we win that 🤔)

With games against current 10, 17, 16, 15, 12 in the last 8 after that.

Would be the biggest of St Kilda, St Kilda things to miss from there. Would be Hall of Fame worthy.

The anti Bradbury where everyone falls over and yet we stub our toe, glide across the ice, knock ourselves out and be less than 1% short of the line and one of the other dopey bastard teams pick themselves up, concussed, pirouettes and falls over with their arses half a percent ahead of us.

Ya All know it makes sense!
The ladder predictor is fun...
I had us beating WC, North, Hawthorn and Carlton and scraping into 8th.
Beating Richmond got us 7th.
Beating Geelong got us 5th.
And if we win every game from now until the last round I had us playing off against Brisbane for a spot in the four :)

I think what's most likely is we will need five more wins to play finals, but could scrape in with four.

Byrnes needs to stay he'll get better, never a star but a good workhorse. Pato has his ticket stamped already (IMO), Stocker has his spot now and rightfully so.
He's played some decent footy this year but I reckon that subbing says Ross has had enough. You can't be serving up consecutive 10 disposal games. Ross or Bytel have to improve us on that kind of output.

Well Seb ain't the future and you can't replace Ronnie with Bytel. I reckon he stays in even though he needs to clean his game up.

The thing I hated most about Friday nights game was our forward line.
The thing about Pagan's Paddock was that it was built around King Carey holding ground. We vacated the forward half entirely on Friday night. Sat in aisle 30, during thr 3rd quarter we had every player the defensive side of the centre circle for large slabs of time. How do you kick a score with that?

I hope we come with a better offensive mind set against the Weagles from the coaches down and work on getting some flair again. Let the boys get back to having some fun as it's looking like a total grind for them at the moment which is no fun to watch as a supporter either.

This is one of those calls that looks right this week but so far this year he's been easily our best ruck when he goes on ball. Last week he was the only one who could direct the ball down to our mids. Brisbane started to body target him knowing this. When it was working it looked genius because you have a gun around the ball in the mids and a tap ruck who directs the taps.

When you get smashed in the midfield, lose and the Ferrari gets beat-up by a bunch of thugs with baseball bats it looks less of a good idea taking it to the shops.

Just because he goes ok in there doesn't mean that's where he should be.

Kornes is spot on imo. We are wasting one of the best players we've had at the club in a very long time. Let's see how he goes with an extended run as an inside bull midfielder.

Yeah I have a foot in both camps.
I’d prefer he didn’t have 204cm, 110kg knees being driven into him too often.
But he is almost an upgrade on Marshall seeing as Marshall just plays as a ruck-rover anyway really.
Have a feeling the shine could wear off him if kept in that role though now teams know about him. Much like the team as a whole really.

IF we do happen to not sheet the bed this weekend and have a big lead by half time, I'd love to see owens pou and windy get given the reigns in the midfield for the second half... or just from the start, I dont care about ladder position, we need to solve the midfield problem. We've needed to solve it for over a DECADE fml

Just looking at the team the Eagles put up over the weekend, on paper it's a bit hard to know why they're so sh*t. Certainly doesn't look like the worst team of the modern era?

B. Duggan, Barass, Witherden

HB. Petrevski-Seton, Bazzo, Hunt

C. Edwards, Yeo, Gaff

HF. Long, Darling, Hewett

F. Maric, Allen, Petrucelle

R. Williams, Kelly, Shuey

IC. Sheed, Ginbey, Hough, Williams.

Was Cordy doing a role on these types of guys earlier in the year?

Yes he was he was protecting Camaniti & Owens now the roles are reversed & Camaniti is playing that role to protect King & Owens & he’s not smart or strong enough, so that allows someone like Andrew’s to intercept knowing Caminiti isn’t a threat .

Some good names in there, but they are all well past their best.

Allen and Barrass probably the only two quality players in the peak of their career. The rest are either too old or too young.

Need to change things around a bit. Work around stoppages needs to be addressed urgently, and a few players just need to pull their fingers out. King has played lazy footy for two games in a row, as have a couple of others. Caminiti and Pou show great promise but have gone off the boil as expected for first year players, and we need more strength or marking power at CHF. Steele is sad to watch, as we know how good he can be- the midfield was really poor in the Brisbane game, as it was against Richmond. We won't go much better unless we can generate 4-5 goals more per match.

When was the last time he played midfield? I’d either say never or juniors it’s a specialist position you can’t just throw anyone in there it takes years and skill.

I think he could play mid but generally they will have been training a lot of set plays and systems for blocking space and isolating individuals in different situations. I'm not sure you simply decide to chuck them on ball any more. They'd need a bank of training and instruction to get to that point.

You also make a hole in the back 6 which already looks less assured with Sinclair moving up. Ideally that back 6 is very stable week to week and know each others game.

I think Kelly has been okay from what they've been saying on radio. There are still some good players but all of their confidence and effort has collapsed.

I honestly hope we don't show up expecting a win. Each week they get a couple more good players back and they are a proud club playing to save their coach with all the focus on them. We are a barely competitive midfield at the moment and a bad day could be very embarrassing. The Hawks got us because we played lazy footy expecting a win.

We don't look capable of kicking a 100 points right now, let alone winning by 100+.

I think there have been some signs that Steele is on the improve. 12 tackles against Brisbane.

When our midfield was matching it earlier in the year it was through an even spread of contributors. On the weekend Byrnes, Paton, Windhager and Phillipou were all very poor. We are really missing Clark as an option through there. I think we need to put Bytel in and see what he can do to help. And in the long run this season we hope that DMac and Jones can contribute and Clark gets back soon.

He has been so good off half back this year. If he's going to play midfield you'd think they'd put him in there over a pre-season rather than changing up his role now. Could be an exciting option though.
Yeah I wouldn't necessarily want to move him now. Not sure who would replace him?

Out KPFs are not getting into the contest or winning the contest anywhere near enough, and are making the job of an intercept marking backman so much easier- needs to be fixed.

It's in the head, we will fix that for them... Our ability to despudify and/or play into form is elite.

Reckon we're missing a trick not playing Leo. Would release Sincs

He's pretty low production and a lot less dynamic than Sincs. Sincs plays a very aggressive game where he attacks the ball, Leo seems a more rangy mop it up type like a looser JWeb or Paton type with great distribution. We definitely should look at a way to bring in someone to play that role but not sure if Leo is it. Mason Redman is the only good one I can think of that is available.

Or is that the kick inside 50 from a depleted midfield? Hunter Clark would munt the odd ball inside 50 and was one of the few that could see through the matrix and find different avenues to goal.

Well of course he’s lower production he’s played what games vs 150. However he’s got to start somewhere. Let him take some kick ins. I think for now if he comes in he goes to half back and Sincs can play more on ball.
