Probably has a vested interest on doing his media work right. Anyway had enough. Impossible to discuss if you think Buckley wouldn’t understand our game plan but posters on here would because they have a vested interest. I must inform other coaches who have said to me as well as others that the public just wouldn’t understand game plans. Have the final say. I give up on this topic this week. It’s actually hard to believe people are saying some of this stuff. Good night and good luck with our game plan on Sunday.

Has Bevo got your ideas for the Dogs this week yet?

I think you'd know more about the Saints than him and you seem to be blotto most of the time.
Harsh comment and below the belt. Not like you, Gringo.

Bucks appears to be a very astute commentator and student of the game. Especially having played it at the highest level and coached for a not -insignificant time. I have no doubt he’d be able to see and recognise things about any game plan more so than the average fan. He can also study it impartially and unemotionally, which, understandably, we can’t say we generally do.

Thought it might be one of the many coaches you know because if it wasn't a coach how would anyone know
I said it was my dad. Again this isn’t on game plans but what I find really strange is when you give a reason for thinking something you are big noter for having that reason if you mention why you have that reason. We are different. You can tell by some of the crap written on here but I’d rather someone say why they have certain opinions even if it’s somehow big noting which is complete crap than just say something with no backing up at all. Anyway mowman I really hope you have nice night and a lovely day on the mower tomorrow. It was very cold on the hands this morning. Might have to glove up if this weather keeps up. Go saints. Go bucks. Go dimma Go fagan and go me. Enjoy.

I think I know how the team I watch every game of and spend way too much of my time thinking about plays. Nathan Buckley has probably watched a few Saints games as part of his media commitments. I think I'd know more about how we've played this season. I might not be as good at coaching but I think I have a fairly large sample size to judge performance off.

Are you serious. That’s disgraceful.

I don't where you get the idea that I'm above bad behaviour. I'm a total bitch, the mods just clean up after me.

I rate his analysis but he would have a very small sample size. I don't think he's doing commentary and would watch some random games each week and watch footy shows. I'm sure he's quick to identify strategy and tactics but I doubt he's got more idea about how we play than most of us do.

🤣🤣 to your first comment.

Well, I’ll put my hand up and say Bucks definitely knows more than me.

I haven't been reading BF for a couple of weeks, so apologies if this is totally Sandra Sully. I know that people have talked about our failures in big games this year, but I don't know if anyone's posted the stats. I had a look at our draw and compared On Broadway games to Off Broadway.

On Broadway = Friday night and Saturday night.
Off Broadway = afternoon and twilight games.

Our record so far this year.

On Broadway - 3W 7L
Off Broadway - 6W 1 L

(I counted the Cairns games as on broadway, but was that televised on Fox? If so, it's arguably off broadway).

So, anyway we're off broadway this week. 10 goal win.
Needs more context. Who have we lost to?

Do the Jim Stynes grill sometime. I just found out there’s no limit to how many times you can apply each season. Just have to get lucky with the ballot. Great view and you can always head down to general reserve after eating
Oh shit I’ll have to give that a shot next time. Bloody saints need to play at the G more often

Are you a life coach?

Well done remaining only positive in the face of supporting the saints, I can’t do that. I, personally, feel that you can’t enjoy a roller coaster if you only go up or flat.
Nah mate.
Had a lot of adversity in my life including health and the loss of my kids due to bad divorce (have not heard from them in over 15 years). Financially ruined as well.

Almost drowned in negativity and self pity.

Then discovered Ant Middleton (years before the sas Australia bullshit). Learned a number of techniques notably that negativity is the easy road. Gives me purpose to have to work hard to see positives.

There are so many people in this world far worse off than me. Have been able to recover myself by remembering this. At the end of the day, footy is footy and while always disappointed after a loss I will seek the positives and reset for another serve the next week.

I understand how people get so upset and need to vent and always respect that. It just means I have to avoid this place for a few days afterward.

Here's looking g forward to a strong this weekend.

Go saints

Well he must have last week. For three quarters every time we tried to move it inside, the Bulldogs had it zoned tight, so we would try to switch, and it was still zoned, so we would kick it down the line.

Not hard to counter Sinclair and Hill of HB if the forwards pressure our backs make the kicks out of defence ineffective and slow and then clog up the guts. Sinclair and Hill can't run and carry, and our forwards can't separate. Only worked in qtr 4 when the Dogs took the foot off the pedal and got lax (through thinking they had done the job, fatigue, combo?) and we could get some run through the middle. This opened up the wings and fat side to space and we finally looked like a football team

Buckley seems to have it spot on. Up to our newly minted coach to work out how to counter the opposition gameplan when this occurs.

Just did a ladder predictor and there's a pretty good chance 12 wins makes the finals.

Looked very unlikely not that long ago.

It could even be 11 gets you in. One I did we were equal with Richmond in 8th but poor percentage got us in 12th place. In all likelihood though we probably have to win every game or only drop 1. I think 10th to 12th is probably were we finish. Last year sides seemed to all drop games leading into finals like no-one wanted to play in them so you never know.

We definitely don't need to win every game. If we win four we will make it. But there's a good chance we could win three and make it if Richmond and Bulldogs drop the games they're expected to.

Surely we would have known that they'd do that. Didn't we plan for it? It sounds like Ratts plan was to "pressure". I thought that last quarter we really started to take the game on. Once the game was done we threw caution to the wind and moved it fast. In the first quarter we seemed to be trying to hold on to the ball and move it wth slow precision.

Stavro said before the season that our plan was to play stingy dour footy and then go bang. We seem to have been doing that all year judging by so many games being decided by short bursts of higher effort.

The Dogs defensive set up was something that should have been obvious how to split open. We didn't do it.

We don't even know which side will show up to take on the Eagles at the moment. Even getting past the Hawks doesn't look like a definite right now. Geelong, Sydney and Brisbane all look a step too far up for us.

If we are relying on a Hail Mary we aren't really in the race to do anything once we get there except paper over some cracks and keep membership up. I almost hope we don't play finals and get picks and pressure to replace coaches.

I don't think we will make the finals but I'm saying if we win the next two we'll very likely have to win one of the last three to make it. Of course those games all look like a step too far for us right now, but I still hope we shift the form around and get a few wins to end the season off and then if we do make finals I'll be up and about all week until we most likely get flogged which seems to generally happen to the team that finishes 8th :)
