Hopefully Sullivan, Harrison and Richards can continue their good form today. I'm also hoping that the break has been good for Ash.

The challenge is on Macrae now, he needs to come in and play above the level. If he has a middling game then others will go past him.

Also hoping for a big game by Steene and/or Begg

Cause outside of Cox and Cameron… the ruck depth is a concern

The issue with ruck is how many can you have? We have two serviceable ones, I’d argue Cameron is having a great season and has gone up a notch. In the 2’s if you have a mature ruck who’s capable then he’s likely to just leave for opportunities, like Witt’s. So you can really only have a couple, and then developing kids like Steene. Along with forwards that can pinch hitting the ruck like the injured Mcstay. Moyle being a perfect example. He’s on track to becoming a good ruck, but is behind Witt’s. May leave for opportunities

Cox is a bad injury away from retirement. And May retire at years end… who knows?

I wanted a Sam Naismith type in that Ben Hudson mature ruck back up role.

Steene needs time and Begg looks unlikely…

Frampton needed in defence

So the cupboard really is bare.

List imbalances happen when the clubs have players like Kreuger and Murphy who of no fault of their own are inactive and take up list spots…

That then leads to shortcomings in other areas like ruck

I'd sort of disagree on the 'no fault of his own' in relation to Murphy. He is not physically injured - it's all in his head. Gone is the reckless abandon that created the head knocks and concussion, and in its place is a man who has genuine fear of playing and getting concussed. His trademark selfless courage seems to have deserted him. I know he is trying to develop a style of play that will protect his head from further concussions, but I wonder what will be lost from his game if he resumes playing. He was probably my favourite player and this anti-climactic fizzling out of his career is kind of sad to witness. I'd almost prefer he calls it quits and retires with a premiership to his name.
