These days, I'm a very calm supporter, I tend to just watch and enjoy in silence. However, I must say, when there was a minute to go, we were goal in front, the ball was kicked forward and I realised Mitch Lewis was 30 metres in the clear, even I jumped out of my chair!!!! I really did think we'd lost it in the third term, it was a wonderful effort.

I even tuned into that horrid footy show last night just to hear Kane Cornes finally say something half decent about the Hawks. :)

PS Don't get me started on the Hawkins dive, that was disgraceful.

I hope the umpires put a mark against Hawkins name which says "watch him, he dives"

It's ironic that the biggest whiner about umpires in the game's history instigates a rule against umpire dissent.

He once whinged the umpires don't pay head high tackles against one of his players because he's a known ducker. HELLO! You brother coaches sellwood.

A tale of two halves? One half and two quarters?

Shows that when the game was against us we still managed to grind out 5 goals. We didn't drop our heads. We kept at it. The Handbaggers butchered more opportunities, in part thanks to our pressure on their F50 entries.

Interesting thoughts on Jaeger’s performance yesterday. At half time Titch and Jaeger had 8 possies each. They definitely needed to lift. Titch hunted the ball, dived around my like a madman and played like a man possessed grabbing 25 touches and kicking a goal. Jaeger definitely contributed and the defensive job on Stewart in the last was critical but there is worrying signs on where he fits in to our midfield moving forward. Caught holding the ball twice yesterday when the option was there to hand of to another player is a worry because you can see the will and determination but the body is unwilling at times. Can he keep his spot and prosper without large midfield minutes is an interesting discussion point. He is our acting captain, a heart and soul type of player but people need to realise he will never be the player that burst onto the scene at Gold Coast. He will not have 30 possession 4 goal games like he was capable of early doors. As long as he plays his role, hard working 20 possession games are what we should expect and accept from the 2022 O’Meara model.
I wonder if they limited jags running across the pre season, would mean he will come into it more as the year goes on.

But once he plays within his limitation and his always ultra team focused his pretty crucial to how the kids come through.

Modern day Richie vandenburg?

I think he's potentially got a future as a hhf in our system.
He had four or five really strong leads in the second half yesterday and he looked quite threatening at times- I think if he trained in those roles instead of as an onballer he'd be very damaging.

Plus he knows how to do the team things and block for midfielders, which can be transferred to blocking for forwards.

I thought Breust was phenomenal in the last quarter. Seemed to be at the fall of every ball (apart from where he had to contest the high ball). Was able to be clean most of the time and if not he still got a tap in to advantage of a team mate.
Breust and Gunston still ooze class. So great to see them working together and hopefully the youth around them take note and learn. Would love to see them close out their careers in the brown and gold.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. The cats are in some huge trouble moving forward with their list.

Let’s hope they continue with their head in the sand, they haven’t been a genuine contender for a couple years now and are at best treading water at the moment. They don’t really have anything exciting on the list either that they can look forward to in a few years.

Big question is, do they have the balls to accept it and move forward with a different tact? Took us a while……..
I think Holmes is going to be a good player. Looked easily the best of their younger players yesterday. The issue is their other younger type players like Parfitt and Miers are decent players but are not players you can rely on to turn games for the team. There just middle of the road type players who in poor teams will not have the same impact there having in Geelongs ATM. They need more Holmes and De Koning types coming through to help arrest the slide that is inevitably coming.

Just to be pendantic brayshaw said cats had won eight of the last ten. It’s 6 if you include finals and 7 if it’s just H&A.

Hawthorn? W5 D2. Including last years top 5 - no losses

On Easter Monday it was 8-2, now 8-3

Only won 2015, 2018 and yesterday

Remember that time when we had three goals on the board against the Handbaggers on Easter Monday before they had a single possession?

That was a good day.
First Easter Monday game I’ve been to in many years. Normal Easter camping holiday was ruined due to covid but was able to go after my mandatory iso release. So rapt I was there.
