This game won't be easy. Our games against the Gold Coast are always close.

In: Higgins, Hayes
Out: Windhager, Ryder (suspension)

Windy is unlucky but Higgins has to come in. I think Long's pressure has been fantastic and adds something extra to the forward line to make us harder to play against. Would like to see him play alongside Higgins and Butler.

Would like to see a fast start - we typically start terribly against them then play catch up all game. They will be up after their win against Carlton, so to kill that confidence early will be important.
You make a good point Brut. Combination of Higgins, Butler and Long could be an extremely dangerous smallish forward line.

Really reckon Campbell can give Roma a chop out. Big lump of a lad who can square a contest.
Really don't think Hayes would be a good option

Agree. Roma can handle the majority of the game, providing his foot is ok. Need another big guy who can ruck.
Hayes will need to wait a little longer.

All for protecting the head.

But no one has come out and said what Ryder should have done only that he shouldn’t have bumped.

His feet were planted and Day took a
Step to the left.

What is Ryders duty of care to jump out of Days way?

It is a contact sport with players coming at you from all directions occasionally there is going to be head knocks that are accidental and unavoidable.

Someone please tell me what the alternative action was for Ryder.
He should have ducked his head and rammed it into Day then he would have got a free kick. Well that’s if he was in the goal square wearing yellow and brown.

It's been a long time since I've felt like this after a game. Yeah 2020 was great, but no win made me feel as satisfied and excited as Sunday did.

Now it's Monday, my day off work, and I've been refreshing big footy, the AFL subreddit and watched/listened all the footy content I could find and taking in all the positives the media has to say about saints footy. Been on the couch all day if I'm honest.

I'm ITCHING for the game to come around Saturday. I can't get enough of Saints content at the moment.

This doesn't have anything to do with the game next week. Just a general feeling I have that I haven't felt since probably 2010. Not saying we are as good as that team, but just saying the team hasn't made me this excited since then

We simply HAVE to keep the foot down. Our biggest problem we have had for a few years is we get a little run going before a reality check hits us and derails our season. Need to be consistent.

Haven’t seen Campbell play since preseason but seems a risk in terms of what he’ll contribute other than tapwork.

Does he have the mobility to impact around the ground?

I expect they’ll go with Hayes but I think Campbell would be fine if he got the nod. Got 20 touches for Sandy on the weekend. He’s pretty solid around the ground.

Amazing what four quarters of high pressure, high scoring, free-flowing footy will do for you.
I’ve always envied other teams who play that way. Not having to scrap for every goal. Yesterday, and hopefully continuing in the future, that was us! 🥰

Campbell was ok for Sandy on Sunday

Just need to put a clamp on T. Miller and we should go ok

GC are more about movement this year.
Need to stop their run.
Not sure what’s the go with Roma but would be a good time to pull it together
On the Couch just put a lot of their stats up they're no push over

Contested game will need to be on from the start. We can do it but wouldn’t want to start too slow.
showed some of the footage of GC moving the ball and it was good BUT Carlton was putting very little pressure on

They sure are, Have got a player back who I was told was trying to get to the saints before covid hit, L.Weller. He is starting to hit his straps and has got great running power. Unlike his bro, who is still playing in Tasmania but is bigger than Luke O'Sullivan ever was.....
They are young and fast but we should be able to beat them

Campbell would have played on witts a few time in the vfl yeah?

Be interested to know how he fared if anyone remembers

I don't remember but 19 hitouts to Witts ( Collingwood ) and 13 to Campbell .
Campbell kicked a goal.
