It sounds like your missus has your balls...:D if you dont have 2 TVs, let her watch the wedding, you pop down to the local pub..win win. However, if my first comment is true, take Harks advice.

Both balls and the short and curlies. Got two tvs but only one connection: TV 2 in bedroom is DVD only, which is where the mrs goes whenever footy is on, hence my lack of leverage re a "once in a generation event" like tonight's right Royal dross. I can tape the footy and watch later but stuff that. The rub a dub dub it will be.

Raining, small ground against the toughest tackling team in the league. Really suits McLean this weekend. Normally I think leg speed and getting the ball into the forwards quickly is the way to beat these guys but I reckon the conditions are calling toughness this weekend.
I have wondered about McLean coming on as the sub. Once the game has slowed, rather than injecting some speed (which seems to be our leaning) why not try a contested ball/stoppage player who won't now get caught behind the play.

Agree that this week could be the week to try it.

Just a thought.

I'm actually excited about this, I reckon we can sneak away with a win. Although I'll only be following the scores live on my iPhone. Go Blues!

I'm still expecting at least one change tonight, although weather pending it may even be two.
Armfield for Yarran seems most likely but then again Tuohy may have some say in that.

If it does show to be a particular wet night, could Hampson being given the night off be possible?
Do we really have to worry too much about Jesse White?
Would we be better off with running Warnock with Mummy on and off the ground, and just let the balance of ruck duties be left to the Jamo down back or Waite up forward, with a little support?

Alll for this. Handsome cannot get a touch in the best possible conditions, so will be an out and out liability in the wet.

Bring in either Tuohy or Mclean for him, and play small if it is really wet.

We can play 3rd man up for 20 mins easily, while Warnock rests. It normally works fairly well.

if i remember there were stories around that he asked if he could play in the midfield, ala walker asking to play somewhere? i think he had a safer spot playing as a back pocket type. he tries to move to the midfield and the backline spots fill up behind him, now can't break into the team at all.
but for all i know though the coach could have instigated that, or he did after said backline changes were mooted. i'm not sure why he would ask to play in the midfield while it's already stacked.

That was me. Armfield asked to be developed as a midfielder so he could become a better and more versatile player. He knew he would struggle for games with so many of our backs/midfielders more versatile than him. I even said he'll spend a fair bit of time in the VFL this year learning his trade. Of course, I got shot down for it and told I'm an idiot.

Armfield is in the VFL spending time on the HFF & wing. Armfield is spending more time with the midfield group at training.

It was a smart choice by him. With so many running defenders (Russell, Joseph, Yarran, Duigan, Davies, Lucas and with Gibbs & Scotland pushing back) and with most of them also being able to play midfield or forward, he knew he needed to add something to his game.

If it doesn't work out, then he moves back to being a full time defender and is a better player for the experience. No harm, no foul.

Not sure why the name Mclean keeps coming up as he was not an emergency and has not travelled to Sydney.

That ruck notion also makes sense to me but some are very much against any talk of not having 2 ruckman in the 21 (not 22 as ruckman don't fit this way)

heheh oops...people kept mentioning it, so assumed he was an emergency.

On a dry day, where clean taps are more effective, and there is also more running it is pretty important to have 1.5-2 ruckmen....(Brown and Hawkins come to mind). I thought Thornton went ok the few times he has been forced to ruck for a bit, and Setanta is big enough to make a contest then just run around hitting people.

Think in the wet though, while there will be more stoppages, there will be a lot less distance running...think we will be fine playing one alone.

Suggestions are that Yarran is out.
If so, as disappointing as this may be, I'd hate to see him injured further.

No news of the in as yet but an Armfield/Tuohy, 50/50 at this stage.

Yarran did not train with the group last night and it has been very wet up here since i arrived yesterday morning but it is reasonable weather right now. i would expect who ever comes in to play as the Sub(marine).

Just go and buy the DVD on Charlie and Di's wedding.
No one will know the difference.

If that seems a little too far-fetched, head down to Dick Smiths and get an extension TV connection.

Come on Big Sim, you have to think on your feet.
This is important..
:thumbsu::D
you're right, by golly. Off to JB now.

Just checking for verification but apparrently Yarran is out of Supercoach.
Early doors, but it does seem likely if he didn't train last night.

It is stupid if we risk a 1-4 month injury for the sake of one game. Especially when we have decent cover for him.

Wet weather hampson

Just a quick thought - in Sydney its been raining on and off all day, and its meant to pour down tonight - why would we play hampson?
he can't mark the ball when its dry on a big ground. how does he have a chance on a small wet ground?
i would much rather a lucas or even armfield -

however SURELY brock would be suited to this kind of match, in and under, tight footy.

i just dont understand why ratten wouldn't just drop him for this week.

Ah right, yeah I saw what that guy wrote on TC. I don't do supercoach so I don't know how it works, do they have the teams listed?

I'll bite though. If he's so terrible and can't mark the ball on a dry day, then his performance won't be any worse in the wet will it. If its wet there will be lots of stoppages, making ruckmen MORE important as their workload will be increased. Hampson is a good tap ruckman.

Is anyone else out there fighting a battle with the spouse for tv rights tonight?
One of the perks of having a mad Carlton supporter for a girlfriend is that footy is a given. :thumbsu:

My girlfriend makes a conscious effort to leave me alone to watch the football. Unfortunately this week I F***ed myself by organizing a party the same night at a place I am house-sitting (DW the owners are cool with it) without a T.V. (Hippies)

Re: Wet weather hampson

I'm worried about Goodes...just hoping he doesn't tear us a new one tonight. If we stop him I'm pretty confident we win this game.

What do you think Ratts will do? Gibbs again? Maybe rotate the mids on him and then Russell when he pushes forward?

Sorry I chose not to mention that other site.
I must be getting pretty protective for what we have here.

I don't do SC or DT.
I spend enough time here without investing another block of hours elsewhere.
Maybe someone with an account can answer that for us?
I have Yaz in my SC team, I just logged in and checked, he still has a green light next to him and it says that he is selected in the initial starting 22
