Steele is our main main in the middle this year and through no fault of his own he just isn't that star that can turn a game.

It's absurd the amount of times the last few years I've flicked on the TV to see dangerfield singlehandedly keeping geelong in a game.

They aren't a 1 man team, but they sure would lose a lot more games without him.

We really need to cross our fingers that the covid paycuts can shake a gun mid or too loose onto the trade table.

Or the one we gave up the earth for starts repaying the faith

Jimmy or Sav in for Longy. This is a game where you'd happily sacrifice a tiny bit of development for a win; personally I favour Sav in this case.

Play Roma again; I get the feeling he'll be extra motivated after an ordinary day out.

Bring in Sinclair for Hill; he (Jack) was rated elite on the wing a couple of years back.

I think that's about it. It was a horrible loss last week but not exactly alarm bells, drop the whole team type loss. I don't really see a position for Marsh at the moment; if Hanners were available I would say Marsh for Hanners (or even Spook) to up the midfield grunt but they're both injured.

spot on. can apply this to other clubs as well. imagine richmond without dusty. or freo without fyfe/walters.

I sure hope they're scrambling to bring a mid in. You've got my hopes up.
We'll see on Thursday how much scrambling has been done.
Monday game so Thursday will be squad with every available mid named.

Here's my bet - Ross, Geary named on an extended bench along with Byrne's, Bytel, Sinclair, Dingley and Parker to "send a message" and in the end Marsh gets dropped and replaced by Byrne's.

The thing that worries me is that we know exactly what Sincs,Hind,Webster,Savage and Phillips are going to bring to the table , they are not the answer.
Im happy for Webster to come in for Long if he gets a holiday but the others will do nothing to help .
Parker is out of form big time , i dont care what they write on the saints website , before they left for Noosa he was woeful and as iv said before Robbo doesn't look like the player we had 2 years ago.
The only ones worth bring in to give a crack is Byrnes , if more needed then Bytel although he hasnt impressed me that much and Doults , The depth some talk about is not nearly as strong as you think IMO
We only know what they bring to the table under Richo's game plan and coaching. Not wanting to appear a Richo basher but to me he was quite stiffeling.

Two ways to look at selection this week.

1. Last week was one of our more unfathomable losses in recent memory. Six goals up against a team described by commentators at the time as "Not up to AFL standard." We then go almost three quarters and kick only one goal to ultimately lose to that same team. A team down two rotations due to injury and their superstar seemingly hobbled also by injury.

Therefore a big statement needs to be made at selection to show that years of that same sh1t just won't cut it any more and that reputations won't save you.

2. We won our two previous games and only went down by a goal this week. Hardly bad form some might say, not deserving of wholesale changes. Give the boys a chance to redeem themselves.

Guess which way the club will go ? I know which way I'm leaning after the sh1tstorm on the weekend.

Id be happy to sacrifice the win for someone just to have a bit of a chop. Trouble is apart from Longy I can’t see anyone pulling out the inspirational one percenters that gets the team fired up when the chips are down.
I think plenty are capable of providing that spark but it’s just not happening.

that Brad Hill squib against Mundy is one of the most embarrassing things i've seen from a senior footballer on big coin. seriously bad.
It’s up there with the worst things I’ve seen on a footy field. I’ve watched it like ten times to see if there’s any possible circumstances explaining it but he truly just squibbed it. Terrible to see.

i think what's worse is under richo i knew it was f’ed, so it was more frustration watching a car crash in slow motion

but this is different, you can see the gains, you can see how our best has improved out of sight. you can see the likes of king being pretty damn special.

but we are still finding a way to be absolutely pathetic. it's like melbourne but without the long term emotional scarring they went through.

the lack of resilience is seriously alarming though. very un-saints like.
I think,, nay, l hope, that the weekend's display makes the process of debugging our side easier and more apparent for Ratts to deal with.
So far he's done pretty well with making tough calls.
Let's just see who's out come selection night.
Fingers crossed there will be a statement made..

The pathetic 10 metre missed pass to him was just as putrid.

Missing a bloke from 10 metres with two on him, ans he then squibs in the most pathetic fashion.
Pitiful

Get rid of that massive spud Ross and give Byrne or Bytel a go for a start.
Ross has less awareness than Acres and slower than a wet week.

So obviously you don‘t want to be president of the.....

I reckon everyone should, if possible, get another chance under the new regime and new gamelan.
It's unfair to define a blokes career having only played under Richardson.

You know I've been saying that for nearly 18 months now.
I'm can't even tell if you're taking the piss any more..
Deadly serious.

He is slow in mind and body, gets caught with the ball at least once a game, does idiotic handballs and misses targets.

We need to drop the long term losers like him and Geary.
They are senior players, where was their leadership on Saturday? Nowhere, thats where.
We are going nowhere with these two perennial losers.

Well, l agree then.

Seb Ross laid 1 tackle against the Dockers. That wouldn’t be too bad if he was getting a lot of the ball like Steele and Jones , but he had 12 possessions. Steele and Jones laid 6 between them. If Seb is too slow to lay many tackles , he becomes a liability during opposition run-ons. I think Seb needs to be dropped until he gets over his form malaise , and while he is there , he can work on not giving away so many free kicks as well. 4 more vs Freo. He has played well in the past , but currently his career is in grave danger.

We really only have 3 players from the 2015 list that would be worth persisting with or at least couldn't be replaced by a kid with more potential. Carlisle, Billings and Membrey. Guys like Lonie, Ross, Savage, Webster, Dunstan, Sinclair etc are all just filler at the moment. They aren't improving after this long on the list. Might as well play the youth and move them on.
