Interested to see how Sav goes if he gets in. I've been critical off him in the passed mainly with his long bombs and lack of hardness, but I think with the new coaching group he may lower his eyes and hit targets. Could play very similarly to JJ if he does that as he does have pace and tries to break lines but in the passed often he would do that and then bomb it about 60 long and high. The new coaching group clearly has a higher focus on hitting targets - hope we get that FROM sav if he is namedHe'd replace the drive that we get from Long off half back. I was thinking that before Long, Savage was our go to player for that so he'd get a call up. Most of the other defenders are more defensive . The role of Long and before that Savage is to provide run and carry off the backline not necessarily to hard defend a player. They actually are trying to get lose into their own space as soon as we are in possession.
Not necessarily, but a mature experienced body is pretty important too. Basically ,whatever it takes to win.Does Savage help replace that hardness?

Lonie & Kent are tripe and they are very lucky. Pretty ordinary changes after making some noise about putting blokes on notice.
Ah okay, so Rattens tough words were all bluster with no substance. Pathetic from the club to fold over so quickly on the tough talk that came post match.
Lonie has been goalless in 4/6 games as a permanent small forward and Dean Kent has wooden paddles for hands. They’ve had more than their fair share of opportunitiesThey’ve been put on notice - which means they’re on their last chance.
Can’t make wholesale changes after one bad week. And with Hanners still out there was no way they were dropping a senior player like Ross.
Now if players don’t perform again this week, then I’d guess that’s when you’ll see more changes.

I think Kent has shown a fair bit this year. I was his biggest detractor last year but even when his stats aren’t that good, his efforts around the ball lead to us kicking goals. His footy IQ is seriously underratedLonie has been goalless in 4/6 games as a permanent small forward and Dean Kent has wooden paddles for hands. Yeah honestly can anyone post a source to where Ratts said he was going to be making big calls on selection this week, or has someone said it and everyone else run with it? All I heard was that a few were put on notice.
Makes no sense to make huge changes after a bad performance. Let them try to make up for it this week otherwise then you start swinging the axe.
“We just had too many blokes that we carried today,” Ratten said post-match.
“Our wins have been built on everybody contributing and today I thought we just had a few blokes who contributed, and others didn’t really have much influence on the game.
“We’ve brought a full squad up here, so we’ll play players that are in form.
