You'd nearly suggest we could be in worse strife. They've just given up a 31 point lead. If it continues the blowtorch is on them all week. If they come back it will be massive for confidence haha.
The week we really would have liked the media blowtorch someone one ups us 😄

Last night I was comtemplating that following St Kilda is like volunteering to be tortured once a week. Your anxiety starts around Wednesdays at the thought of whats to come, then sometimes the torturer has a night off and you get a reprieve. But other weeks it's a full blown session with hot flames and water treatment only to just recover during the week, before the axienty of the game starts again! o_Oo_O

I know we love to spam the omitted button after a horrible loss, but I’d err on the side of giving the boys a chance to rebound for a couple of reasons.

  1. It will teach us a lot about whether some of these kids and fringe players are made from the right stuff. I thought Byrnes, Cordy, Stocker, Higgins actually had strong starts to the year, or at least showed good signs, but have dropped off pretty considerably. If they respond this week then we know they have the mentality to hold their spot and improve, if they capitulate then we know they can likely make way for better options. And for the kids like Phillipou and Caminiti we’ll get a good sense of where they’re at in their development.
  2. It will show us whether some of the vets are here to stay or if we need to start thinking about replacements sooner than later, or at the very least a role/positional change. Thinking about Membrey, Ross and Jones in particular. Not that they would all get dropped this week, but as experienced players and leaders they should be leading the charge, not being passengers.
  3. Probably most importantly, it would give the guys coming back from injury a chance to build with a game at Sandy or another training block rather than throwing them into the furnace with one of the toughest road trips in footy at the moment. Not sure we’d be doing Dow, Clark, Wood, Hayes, etc. any favours by rushing them back.

I wouldn’t mind seeing the same group who just got their pants pulled down run out together again, with no real excuses this time off a 9-day break, and see if they galvanise and come out swinging or if they have had their confidence shaken. Could be a great test and a potential turning point in the season
For the guys with contact injuries (Dow, Wood) I'm fine with getting them back in ASAP. Clark soft tissue and Hayes injury history I'm more cautious with

Tomorrow. Jesus, are we playing after only a One day Break now! I thought 5 days was bad enough.
FFS Fellas ... don't be giving the league any ideas ... we'd be the first team ever to have back-to-back-to-back-to-back 1 day breaks against the top 4 teams (or the past 4 premiers)

It's as predictable as Adelaide being screwed over by a poor late call in a close game ...

In terms of our game, don't think it makes a difference but you'd way rather this pantsing than a stirring win over the Pies. Up 31 points and going to go down by around 40, pretty terrible loss for them and shows they are vulnerable if we're good enough (NOTE we won't be).

Great, we get to play this Port team in Adelaide right off the back of an almighty choke...

That midfield on paper looks diabolical too. Wines, JHF, Butters, Rozee, Drew. Not gonna be easy.

You describe that too well there SS.

Intimate detail.

I call it the "Saints Doom" loop.

;);)

Going to be playing a very angry Port at home if this continues.
Yay 😱

We should be playing just as angry as them next week if not more, our performance was more embarrassing than their performance today.

Port are a likely Top 4 Team. They will also be out for redemption a bit after stalling against the Pies.

One of issues last week, and the weeks prior, is that we are playing a undermanned team with seven young players.

Port "managed Dixon" this week to make him cherry ripe just for us.

If we have good players who can come back in, then we need them back. And not just due the Dogs game, but because our team has been undermanned all year.

I have every confidence we’ll again llay out opponent back into form with Cordy watching the ball float over him to land on Georgiades‘ head

I'm officially off Jones & Sharman now. Was willing to back them in, but not after the dogs game.
And the 5 day break & media build up for the dogs didn't help our cause but allowing the dogs to get the start they did, knowing they would come out snarling? Is disappointing for all fans, but especially for the ones who went to the game at the urgence of the president, was downright shiteful.
