I agree with including Silvagni. We are playing a long kicking game into forward 50 and need players who can contest (mark or bring the ball to ground). i don't know if he'll be around next year but he's a competitor and other than Pav I think he is the most likely to do this and bring the small forwards into play.

I know I am going over old ground but I did not see the Dawson and Johnson incidents and do not want to watch the replay. How bad where they? Are they likely to receive penalties? I understand Johnson bumped into a injured player as they were attempting to leave the ground, is this an automatic suspension?

Dawson is nuts. It was a non vicious forearm to the back of the head as they were both standing still. It was soft and well acted by the victim but, dawson plays for Freo and therefore an example needs to be made.

well you can bet if its a rule they haven't had a chance to implement yet they will wield it with glee against MJ this week. then some past players will rail about it and it will be forgotten about.

How has Silvagni as a forward worked out for us in the past, would be the gist of his comment.

Clarified in another post but it was to put Silvangi in the back line so McPharlin could go forward. This could only happen if MJ and Dawson are still in the side. At least this would give us another tall target up front rather than just Pav.

The feral media were calling for it. Don't think it was made a new rule but they now have the opportunity to make a new one on the run.
They can kill two birds with one stone here.

Silvagni needs a few games. He is such a massive confidence player and someone who relies on faith. Otherwise, he'll be killed in the first 15 minutes and from then on you might as well sub him. I wouldn't be averse to bringing him in, but I don't think he's a guy you can chuck in and out.

I have just looked at some past games. We really missed Dawson in the hawks game and Johnno is everything when it comes to our rebound plays. Of they are both rubbed out I don't think we realise how massive that will be. They simply can not be covered. And we are lucky enough to have WC, port and Geelong in the next few weeks where we need to win 2 to keep our season alive

If MJ and Dawson go then Silvagni should come in and Clarke should be played down back. Sounds silly but Eagles are too tall and we need defenders to play on Cox, Natanui, Kennedy and Darling. Then, if Hannath not suspended he comes in or if he is then Tabener. I think we are in trouble on this one

Seriously though, if Dawson and MJ go out who is going to play in defence on Kennedy (196cm), Cox (203 cm), Natanui (200cm) and Darling (190cm). The tallest player would be McPharlin at 194cm. Look what happened to Hawthorn and that was really only one tall (Hawkins) not 4+ talls.
