How has Sweet already dropped below Hayes levels on this board. Sweet’s stats were similar to Hayes in a SANFL game except for the 6 tackles. I walked out of the ground as negative and angry as anyone. Was pissed at the 2 ruck strategy, pissed that when the game was slipping Soldo was left down in the goal square. But there were atleast 8 senior players I was more disappointed in then Sweet last week. Give the kid a chance!

This is a disaster, you can't spin it any other way. The season will go to hell very quickly unless Sweet can find a way to compete over the next three games in particular.
I don't think competing is the problem. At the ground i thought Sweet played okay. The problem was connection with the mids.

Much like the first couple of rounds, it took our mids a few games to gel with Soldo's style. I would expect the same with Sweet.

A well coached side wouldn't have this problem though.

He's two years older than our captain.
My mistake thought he was 23-24. But Soldo has been injury prone in the past. Dante’s a slow burn. Sweet doesn’t have the ceiling of Dante but he could reach D.Cameron, McInnerney, Pittonet levels.

I’m definitely In the give sweet a chance before shitting on him. This is his chance as the sole ruck. He was never going to work in tandem with soldo but can on his own I reckon.

His two sanfl games generated huge numbers. Vinsentini is less than half the numbers in basically every statistical category. Hayes stats last year in the SANFL were also about half as good as sweets first 2 games.

So I’m not really sure where this idea that sweet isn’t as good as either of those two comes from.

Hayes would have to be the most overrated footballer we’ve had since Butcher.

This is either disingenuousness or idiocy. How do you think Sweet's stats would have looked if we stuck him in the forward pocket for most of the year like we did with Hayes? Or like we're doing now with Visentini?

When Hayes was our #1 ruck in the SANFL in 2022 he won our B&F in a canter. On the rare occasions we played him as #1 ruck in the SANFL in 2023, he was dominant.

Massive test for the mids now

After getting a pantsing last week they need to redeem big time tomorrow night.

I’m happy to give sweet a go but if he gets destroyed this week and we lose, I’m running with visentini in the showdown and until soldo gets back

All I know is averaging 18 possession, 41.5 hit outs and 1.5 goals is pretty good and he deserves a chance before getting shat on.

Hayes had 11 AFL games so it wasn’t like he was never given a go, he just wasn’t that good and dropped off after his promising 2021 season. 2022 he didn’t win the b n f.

Geez we get it man you like being the contrarian and taking the opposite view to the majority here but give it a rest.

Hayes is I am sure largely responsible for his own demise but if you are arguing that he lacked talent and wasn't treated badly or developed properly by the club you are both ignorant and a fool.

So is the team out? Trav coming back I gather so he can kick poorly into the forward line on Dixons head?
He will absolutely workery hardery though.

Excluding P Ryder on occasions we’ve had 15 years of vanilla ruckman.
So I hardly see how wetting the bed over one player and a position I can’t remember we’ve ever dominated since the Primus, Lade, Brogan era will make that much of a difference.

Saints by 14 points.
