I promise I'm not trying to bait anyone and start another 3KZ against the world here... But is anyone else surprised we opted for Logan Morris ahead of Jarryd Lyons to come into the 23 last night? Many of us criticise the team for being too tall at times, yet here we were replacing a small(ish) type with another tall(ish) type.

For the record I'm very happy Logan played, it's a great story and he certainly contributed. But interested in the thoughts of others!
Lyons really can't play anywhere other than in the midfield, I don't think you want to be playing in the midfield after having already played a game.. The team had no idea we were going to lose that many players that quickly. There is only 7cm between Morris and Lyons but I would suspect that Morris is a quicker and a better runner at this stage of their careers. 191cm is no longer a tall player these days.

As far I know, the speccy knee to the head is play-on. Think a free was payed to us unjustified if my interpretation of the rule is correct..

I don't recall a free. Answerth was on the ground with play going on around him.

At the time I commented that they should stop the game cause clearly something was wrong.

But then he got up easily, no staggering ect. I wondered if he had actually been knocked out.

Apparently he passed the concussion test, but was kept off anyway (tis good).

Oh ok, just noticed we were awarded the ball around that spot after he went off, so just assumed there was a free somehow involved.

trying to temper my expectations because in all reality.. the suns were so so so bad.

some aspects like our coverage of them in clearances (special mention to dunkley there), but their defensive running and skills were pretty trash.

of course that is not to take away our achievements ;)

They offered no pressure, fine example is Neale being free all night. It's hard to gauge our performance because they hardly had the ball. We're pretty average against teams that run and carry.

All 3 games we've won we have won the disposal count by +63 with +40 marks - 50 with +26 marks and 73 with +88 marks.

I think the slow build up works with limiting fast rebounds. Slow attack might be our go to this year.

Gut feeling the club was as desperate to see what Morris could do as BigFooty nuffs, or at least wanted to show he was close to getting a full game. So gave him the sub role expecting he would get 15 minutes exposure. No one would have expected that we would lose three players in a quarter and a half.

Fort who played half a game in the vfl was the other option. Like you I was happy Morris got the game. Perhaps Fages has been reading BigFooty😀

Possibly but if they wanted an additional runner, you would think Brain would have got the nod.

You could say the same about hamstring length, quad to HS strength ratio, ankle dorsiflexion range, vertical jump height, hip joint morphology and about 60 other ‘risk factors’ for getting an ACL. The research basically boils down to ‘some people are more unlucky than others’ which is why ‘preventative’ programs are dubious at best.

Case in point, kiddy’s injury was due to the smother put on him as he kicked - nothing you can do to prevent that. Just brutal luck.

I like the kick-mark game. it's controlled, it's patient. I hope we can continue to play it, and I hope more our forward line turn the corner and start kicking goals again.
We looked good because the team were working to get to spots to create a safe kick
And that movement creates space for others to run into
Happened a few times last night way more than usual.
Great team effort plus sharpie and Lohman are up there for this style of football definitely made a difference.
Awesome to watch this team when we have run and movement up and down the park

Over-reading and over-analysing to suggest any of our ACL's have been anything other than just bad luck.

Our record with managing and preventing soft-tissue injuries speaks for itself.

I would keep Starc out for a few weeks. With Andrews, Lester and Payne finding form together, we can afford to keep Reville or someone in, as McKenna finds more form too.

Don't want to bring Starc back too soon
I’m thinking the same
Might come down to opposition though.
But we looked great defending and moving the ball forward
Simply felt like our mix was in sync back there

I agree.
One thing I will say is that when I used to go and watch training out at Yeronga I usually got there quite early and they were always out on the second field doing work with resistance bands and balance boards for atleast 40-45 mins before they even picked up a ball. This sort of warm up is all designed for stability and strength of the core.

Not saying they don’t do it now because I am quite sure they have just moved indoors for this part of the training regime now they are out at Springfield but I certainly don’t see it anymore.

Can i just add - no point in Sharp being sub (as he was originally meant to be) as it totally wastes his massive tank he can use all game.

And Berry's kicking. It is horrendous. Has it got worse? He just floats 25m passes so high and misses by 2-3m, gives so many opportunities for turnover. Once we have players back he needs 3 weeks in the 2s to just play off half back and practise in game kicking, it's deadset that bad.

I thought Berry was very good last night, can not recall too many clangers.

There was one I remember which means there weren't any others.

Cam on the other hand.
McCluggage had the fumbles last night, even 2nd guessed himself a couple of times with ball in hand, unlike him although fatigue would of played a part during the latter part of each quarter.

The other thing I noticed while watching it again was how hard Lachie Neale ran defensively, stark contrast to an uncharacteristic slack effort during the 2nd half last week... albeit by the whole team.
