Oh but according to Footy Classified, he should be able to coach for another 5 years somewhere else. It makes sense, given the myriad of job offers he's received so far 🥴.

Thats all fake, if you asked the Footy Committee of every club they'd say no to Ken. The record speaks for itself. Clubs arent dumb. They recruit coaches based on their gameplan vision, not based on a coach's H&A record. His gameplan will never win a flag, there's like 5% chance and thats only if he has the greatest list ever.

There's too many flaws in his gameplan, if he shares his vision to any footy committee they'd say no thanks

What’s really depressing me, is that we blew more first round draft picks to give this guy more missing pieces only to be told by the nation’s footy “experts” that our list is still not good enough to be a contender. Now we have to stuff around with trades to get first picks back in, our depth is crap (irrespective of what some here believe) and we don’t have the excitement of welcoming a gun 18 yo onto our list unless we lose our dual AA, best kicking HBF.

Yep we mortgaged our future for this guy and the worse part is the guys we traded in may not even feature under a new coach

You just can't employ a coach who is so easily riled up over a social media comment.

His reaction to it post Hawthorn game really is a sackable offense, disgraced the entire football club on the national stage.

Embarrased everyone involved. Going right down from the top, that's you Kochie, Kennys jut made a fool of you for extening his contract, all the board members, players, other coaches and managers, members and supporters right down to the bootstudder......yet here we are.

Sack Hinkley.

His only motivation is emotion, usually the emotions surrounding his impending sacking, which is why we're so insanely bipolar in terms of when we turn up. He panics in big games and the team panics.

Emotion just doesn't work as a motivator. It's not sustainable. The players actually have to believe they can win.

And the list we blew draft picks to fix was the "best list he'd ever had".

He's a fraud, always kicking the can just a little way down the road to a future time where success will come while good clubs and coaches just get on with winning a flag occasionally.

It's like kicking a dead horse on this subject. We know what should be done, but deep down, we all know what's going to happen. He'll be the coach next year; there's almost no doubt about it.

Besides all the other valid points as to why Hinkley should go the board seems to miss one of the most valid. Hinkley hasn't evolved either as a coach nor has his gameplan. It's the same as it was in 2013. Every sport on the planet coaches evolve. Even the teams that win they have to evolve to stay on top. You see it in every sport, including the AFL except at Port Adelaide. Somehow the idea that if we keep doing the same thing we'll eventually win prevails. When it's proven that it doesn't and won't work. It's one of the biggest reasons why we are stuck as being near enough but good enough.

I've given up on anything happening with Hinkley. He'll be Port Adelaide coach next year as Koch has already nailed his flag to that mast. That's the end of it and it was a fortnight ago.

It’s not the same gameplan, though. We actually played an exciting brand of football, based on the ‘slingshot’ rebounding from defence and the Burgess-fuelled overrunning opponents gamestyle, in 2013-14.

In the following offseason, there was rumblings of “these guys don’t know how to play yet, just wait til they learn” and we came out with a possession retention style which was absolute pus, getting rolled by the literal worst teams in the comp (Carlton and Brisbane), among many others, having entered the season as red hot premiership favourites.

Bassett signed up for 2016 and then we adopted his high pressing defensive style, which we have ever since. The football has been absolutely disgraceful to watch, even if we have habitually defeated the bottom 10 teams regularly. It is, of course, highly taxing, woefully inefficient, and doesn’t hold up against any half decent team.

Somehow much of our fan base have been locked in some form of trance since the actually good now years of 2013-14 (did the Wingard hypnosis video clip actually have broader consequences? 🤯).

Those seasons, which were inarguably good, have in fact done untold damage on account of Ken being convinced he has the Midas touch. But yes, your overall point holds true post-2016

Stewey Dew assistant coach?

Dew is an interesting one, you'd think he's going to be a senior assistant type at the very least given his experience. Going after a name like that suggests to me that they're thinking about life after Hinkley, but who knows.

Having two viable head coaching replacements in the box couldn’t be a bad sign.

Ken would feeling a bit like Scotty Ninnis when the 36ers signed up a long-time NBA assistant, and Serbian national team assistant, the former who would go on to become the head coach before a ball was dribbled in anger.
