Ronald McDonald could get that midfield alone in the mix for finals. The metrics for this guy are insane.

I had a colleague at work this morning parrot that popular narrative "Ken always has Port around the mark and in the mix" Around the mark of what? A Premiership? How can you be around the mark when you have lost five of your last six finals? And these people seem to be in a state of shock when you also let them know Port actually did miss finals completely in 2015,16,18,19 and 22.

"Yeah but if you take those down years out there in the mix. And they made the Prelim this year" There is no point in trying to have a rational conversation with these people.

I believe a few years back, the club 'forced' Ken to go to one of those coaching Havard courses and had to bring Voss with him as a chaperone.

Anyhow for a coach that is always telling the players and supporters they need to learn, he sure sets a great example sitting at home all the time.
It wasn't Harvard. It was in the US and he went with Voss. KT made him go after we went from 11-4 to missing finals in 2018. Voss came back being the "connections" guru at the club. Don't know what Ken got out of it.

A stamp in his brand new passport? Wonder how he went negotiating an accent. "Whadiddy say Vossy?"

It's extraordinary but perhaps not surprising, all Port's teenage recruits are more articulate than Hinkley.
I stopped listening to Ken's i/views ages ago, but during the aflw season I've listened to most of Lauren Arnell's, and what a breath of fresh air she is.

Yep, this is just the setup for Kane to make it sound like us being 7-4 at the bye is some sort of miracle of coaching.
Its all about managing expectations. Its all a club directive. Do shit, well that was expected. Do ok, that was better than expect. It's this bullshit club's 101. Clappers eat it up.

The club is just a Expat B grade Wonder Years episode with narration from Jarrod Walsh on a loop.

I would have Longmire over Hinkley every season that Hinkley has been here and every season going into the future. Of course he won't come here but I would take any of the 100 better credentialled coaches than Hinkley.
Which brings me back to my original point about how difficult it is for Port to attract high quality talent due to being the small club in SA.
When did Port last attract a player who is a superstar in the calibre of Jeremy Cameron or Patrick Dangerfield?

Because ‘the big club’ is currently reaping the rewards of recruiting Steph Curry and Jude Bellingham?

Your preconceived notions are embarrassing.

JHF.

Yes

This Taper Worm imbecile played with one of the Hinkley clan in a hillbilly league, he likes to propagate the myth that Ken has done this remarkable job with a 'little' club which funnily enough we are not unless your only metric is the 'Big 4' which also excludes Geelong in their regional bliss.

Beyond South Aussie homecomers (ie Polec who was rated higher than Yeo and Crisp of the Brisbane exodus, and after some excellent performances in the near miss of 2014, was flipped to become Connor Rozee), we’ve had three ‘foreign’ recruits of the Hinkley Era go on to become All-Australian ruckman, CHF and CHB.

Not bad for ‘ThE sMaLL cLuB iN sOuTh AuStRaLiA’.

Poor Ken, though 😭

The media would have us believe that every player in the AFL would give their left testicle to play under the magical Kenny Hinkley.

Not greats such as Dean Gore, Curtly Hampton and Troy Menzel though, hey.
