We can't help what photos the Advertiser chooses to use.

Also the headline as presented is misleading, Rozee said we can be a better team despite losing Houston. He gave Houston high praise, but thinks we are in a better position with new players in a range of positions which will make us better overall.

Anyway, back to Hinkley.

I've only ever attended three AGM's previously and I didn't get a lot out of them. Some probably do but I find that a lot of legitimate questions and concerns are brushed aside fairly quickly and in the end it turns into a PR exercise with a lot of back patting from club officials.

I won't comment on the validity of whether Ken Hinkley did or didn't have a wedding to attend. But I do believe when you are an AFL Senior Coach who has been paid millions of dollars and only have a return of three final wins in a decade, you have had another failed finals campaign in season 12 at the helm and members and fans have not heard anything from you for over two months, you need to front up and face some legitimate questions and accountability on your role in the failure. The AGM is an appropriate forum to do that.

I remember back in the day when you weren't even allowed to ask questions at an AGM. Then one year out of the blue they opened the floor for questions and we all sat there like stunned mullets. ;)

Mind you we won a lot of premierships back then.

These types of photos of Hinkley really must stop.

It’s the enduring image of the era.

Instead of premiership photos and associated celebrations, we have overly intimate close-talking cuddles and shot after shot of bewildered trudging off following the latest big game disaster.

Only thing Port Adelaide-related on this list is the coach carrying on like a bellend after the semi-final, completely overshadowing what was a great win his players.

Just the latest proof that everything at PAFC has become about one individual to the detriment of the collective.

Apparently Ken has confided to those close to him that he’s worried the Ginnivan incident will be his legacy, he might be right given Caro is a close source and supporter of his and even she won’t let it go.

Ken would have rung her up and cried to her that he fears about his "legacy" being tarnished by it.

Imagine thinking that its ok to want to burn an entire season of 40 odd young mens careers, as well as close to a million dollars taken from over 100k supporters, so people will forget you argued with a teenager once.

‘He was worried about his legacy’.

Not because of the relentless September failures you can set your watch to, but because he felt it would be clever to lip off at an opposition player after a home Semi Final against 7th-place that he was lucky to get the chocolates in, and immediately faced backlash of a level that had only previously come from the likes of us.

It’s always only ever about him, yet he still manages to command the enduring sympathy of a ridiculous number of our supporters and the wider media in general.

‘His legacy’.

It’s hilarious, because carrying on like a smug d¡ckhead when he’s kicking with a stiff breeze, and generally letting his emotions get the better of him in high-pressure situations, is 100% on-brand.

Be that:

• spraying an opposition player,

• the embarrassing “zero-5/1-zero” carry-on after Motlop saved his arse in that Showdown,

• storming out of a press conference when asked about his contract,

• spraying rookie-Peter Ladhams after he had the bright idea to pit him and not Scott Lycett against Todd Goldstein,

• ringing Kane Cornes to complain the first time Kane didn’t slurp his knackers,

• smirking/grinning/joking after pathetic losses,

• the shirty exchange with Tredrea at 5AA in the aftermath of the 2021 Prelim,

• the rumoured spat with Schofield,

• or blubbering in a comically brittle fashion to Sarah Jones after scraping past the lowly Saints at Marvel.

Imagine where’d we’d be if this team could’ve had the benefit of an emotionally-stable, selfless coach, with the tactical acumen and interpersonal skills to get the most out of them as individuals and a unit when it matters most?

It is a crime he is still employed by Port and we’re entering yet another freaking year with him sucking all hope out of the joint.

He was as flat as a tack immediately after the aeroplane incident lol and it would've carried through the week like an energy drain on all and sundry.
Yeah in hindsight there’s no chance we could ever have considered being a chance of winning the prelim a week after that. Was a good thing I actually put money on Sydney beating us lol.

That was his blow it moment, lost self control and as soon as Sicily told him the truth he went silent, flat and mopy.

Great post

What a coincidence that the AGM just happened to fall on a date that was both day one of the Adelaide Test, meaning the eyes of the state were focused elsewhere diverting attention from it, and also a day where the much maligned and under pressure Senior Coach had a prior family commitment.

Remarkable. I’m sure no other dates were available.
Until the club actually faces itself & stops focussing on damage control it will never be a successful club & consequently never earn the respect of the Afl
