Longmire gets paid $1mil+ a year and invests his money for the future, so he can walk away from the job knowing he is a premiership coach and has made 4 other GFs and can get another AFL coaching job if he wants to.

Hinkley gets paid about $1m a year, gambles it away on the dogs, so he needs it more, and after failing to get his side into a GF after 12 seasons, soon to be 13, knows he wont get another coaching job in the AFL.

Longmire's retirement and resignation can actually be celebrated as he is actually a successful premiership winning coach.

Ken is a ****ing loser. Him and each of his family family member that has worked at the club.

I actually posted in your thread that Longmire had to go. After watching Sydney in that GF it was abundantly clear. Meanwhile back at LITTLE OLD Port.

It was a mental thing.

But look the sports market is nuts in Sydney. Making finals is "mandatory" for the masses. Big dance not so much. Sydney fans are fickle across all sports, not just AFL, as long as you are a chance they turn up. And you need to maintain certain standards, yes yes I know there are ghosts and issues like everywhere, but in general for people to turn up standards have to be high and wins on the board critical. Miss out on the big prize most will go meh.

Longmire ticked all those boxes and as I said in our thread kept us relevant in Sydney. Very very important - Big Dance issues aside he was awesome.

Anyway, he was great, he got us there a lot, the players also have to answer for the performances as it was not like he couldn't coach them to win a game at other times.

Looking for ward to Big Cox and all the banners.....God help me.

At the start of the presser, Sydney Prez Andrew Pridham says the role Longmire is taking on, is the one Ron Barassi and Paul Roos took on after they finished up coaching at the swans. That is some sort of forward planning.

No I don't want Hinkley doing a similar role. He is no Ron Barassi to start the ball rolling.

Yes indeed.
It's clear as crystal.
Sydney don't have the mental steel to remain stable for the whole distance.
Whereas Port......... we persist - and never give in.
