Arrogance does not have to be earned.

Technically, arrogance is an exaggeration or overconfidence of yourself, skills, powers, etc and it shows that you actually are not confident in yourself so your arrogance compensates for your lack.

Having a good perception of your actual powers, qualities, skills is real confidence is very healthy in life.
Last year, when Houston kicked that goal after the siren against Sydney, he did so with confidence.
Arrogance usually crashes and burns.

At the heart of Kenny, he knows he's up against it to win finals so when he does, he does these arrogant things like the plane symbol to the Hawks to remind everyone and himself that he has the skills. Because arrogance likes to take any opportunity to gloat, he gives it to the Hawks but it forgets that there is a game next week when reality will hit hard.

It is just another aspect of Kenny that is against the Creed.

Those two values, stubbornness and arrogance make it very difficult to be successful. As I've said, arrogance overrates your skills and stubbornness doesn't allow to change from that mindset. Thanks David.

And the only real way to help a stupid tyrant like Kenny is to have the head assistant or all of the assistants come together and continually persuade Kenny into changes that they want but make him believer they are his ideas. A very toxic work problem.
Arrogance has three main divisions, and each division has a number of sub-sets. I like it when a player or a coach has a degree of arrogance ... IE: A sense or display of superiority over his opponent. It's more than just confidence in one's ability, it comes accross in the way they carry themselves ... "I am a winner, and I am going to best you." Chris Scott has it, Dusty has it. Toby Green has it in spades. JHF is getting it.

It has to be coupled with humility though, a desire to keep improving, and a willingness to accept counsel and direction to that end.

Hinkley ... He is arrogant in the worst way possible. Totally lacks humility, coupled with an over-inflated, unrealistic view off himself. Koch is up there with him! Together they are destroying this club's culture.

I'd actually be more inclined to say JHF HAD it. He's probably still got it, but Ken coaches that shit right out of of our players.

I heard Bass on the radio today, just happened to be in the car when he was co-hosting on SEN with Dillon.

Bass would have more brains and nouse than 3/4 of the current coaching group put together.

Made it pretty clear he didn't see his sacking coming - lucky for him he's off to Melbourme, by himself, daughter in year 12 next year so he's obviously going to fly a lot.

Imagine being put through all that and Hinkley is still earning a bazillion dollars achieving nothing - he would be filthy and rightly so.

People should see how that guy speaks and articulates himself, then play some tapes of Hinkley, how the **** has stinkers been here for so long is beyond any normal business model - Koch and co are just all hoping it 'happens' - it wont.
I’ve enjoyed his insight into the game and drafts etc.. been a good listen.. better than that idiot rucci

2015 deck chair was the moment, mission accomplished attitude without even making the granny.

Got his pants pulled down 15 and 16 and still wouldn't wake up to his short comings

Oh Lord. It's hard to be humble, when you're perfect in every way 🤓
Whenever I go outside
I'm findin' it so very tough
Cos whenever any girl sees me
I can't get away fast enough
It's somethin' I've just gotta live with
I s'pose that I've got no choice
It's cos I'm a good lookin' fella
And my beautiful masculine voice!

Maybe not in a final but I’ll be using my membership ticket to cheer the oppo every home game now that’s it’s confirmed the turnip is staying

And I’ll boo the shit out of the clown when a “what happen Powa” inevitably occurs

In a perverse way im looking forward to it he’s a failure he will fail and it will be so good after copping so much for wanting him gone to watch him burn

Sounds like fun.

Your conflating arrogance with confidence.

I'm not using run of the mill psychology so it won't make as much sense. It's a bit wrong of me to go into it on here. I try to stick with footy and not much elseon here.

Arrogance is one of the main elements against humility and completely oppositional to it.

The way that a person carries themselves in this regard is purely based on their confidence in their abilities and nothing else. And even that is not needed. It's not that important because your actions begin to speak louder than words. You've got a guy like Viv Richards who had that swagger because he is confident in his abilities but you can also be a quiet assassin and not have that swagger like, I'm going to use another non-football guys like Efrem Reyes or Magnus Carlsen who don't come across with swagger but when you play them, their abilities do the talking.

But yeah, Hinkley and Koch are particularly arrogant and that is why they are laughed at and constantly derided by fans. They make up their swagger with propaganda and censoring media.

Of course, Viv Richards once called Merv Hughes a "fat bus conductor" - when Merv dismissed him a few balls later, he passed Viv and with a huge smirk on his face, quipped, "Tickets please."

Koch and Hinkley need a Merv Hughes type to put them back in their place!!!

Re genuine (confident) arrogance, I can recall an internal trial at Alberton in the mid 1970's in what was the first season after the 3 Williams brothers had transferred from Westies to the Maggies.
Back then there wasn't as much of this A's v B's stuff where one team would absolutely smash the other and there was a mix of first choice players in each line up with A graders regularly matched up on each other.

It was reported at the time that Choco (to his credit) had asked to be matched up in the centre against Russell Ebert who then proceeded to destroy him, it was an absolute demolition with Ebert getting multiple disposals at will leaving Williams following him around in obvious awe.

Re misplaced arrogance, ala his coaching and game plan I suspect kerns is a con act, and koks is based on his opinion that any semi literate mug can win a flag if they are in the job long enough, plus I believe it gives him a feeling of superiority to be seen as `smarter' than the coach.

Locked in for 2025.

No assistant coaching changes either. Chad was meant to move into a development role but that's out the window and they're sticking with the status quo, with Sutcliffe expected to fill the duties voided by the departure of Luke Kelly.

Too many decision makers in a position of comfort right now, and as supporters we are powerless to do anything about it.

2025 set to be a repeat of 2023's shitshow.

Well fcuk me
Didn't see that coming !

Remembering that they didn't even have to actually sack him. Could've literally just let his contract run out. It was there for them on a platter, and the board shat the bed. They're ****en cooked. We actually thought he was going to get sacked this year? LMAO.

Not Funny.
