That's the bit that genuinely hurts.Beyond that, it’s the casual disrespect to the club itself, and the city as a perfectly suitable location for young professional athletes (and prospective coaches) from elsewhere, that blows me away.
Guys like Ollie Wines, Dan Houston, Zak Butters and Miles Bergman should be thanking their lucky stars they came to Port Adelaide — just like John Abley, Tim Evans, Gary Tredrea, Russell Johnston, Paul Rizonico, Dom Cassisi, Josh Carr, Alastair Clarkson, Robbie Gray, Travis Boak and Michael Voss before them.
It seems to have served them well?
I’m not sure where this belief crept in that Ken Hinkley, of all people, is the keystone to the club attracting/retaining everyone not born on the Lefevre Peninsula.
And the fact this belief actually exists amongst key figures at the club is astonishing, to be honest.
It's as if the Port Adelaide Football Club has no definable history.
