They want to win a flag in the same way I want to have washboard abs. I want it to happen, sure, it'd be great if that happened. But I don't have any intention of making the sacrifices and putting in the hard work needed to make it happen. So what point is there in wanting it?

snap

The Board would have let him go to the Gold Coast. But the AFL wanted Hardwick in that role and so were never going to even entertain the idea of Ken moving to the Sunshine State.

They could have just not given him a new contract around the same time. It's insane. Like we're somehow responsible for ensuring poor old Kenny lands on his feet when we sack him.

There's no plan to move Ken into another role at the Club after his tenure is finished as senior coach.

Both 2023 and 2024 for large chunks was a media shitshow surrounding the endless media speculation regarding Ken's future.

I know for a fact that the Club do not want a repeat of the hysteria surrounding Ken's future in 2025, and the Club have made it very clear to Ken that they don't want him carrying on like a buffoon or reaching the point of tears in any interview.

A succession plan announced prior to round 1 gives certainty for all parties entering the season and it takes away the extreme likelihood of media speculation surrounding Hinkley's future with the club.

Makes sense, but I share your reservations about assuming this will happen given how many times he's avoided a certain sacking.

Any danger of a single other key decision maker falling on their sword regarding this or do we have to deal with the likes of Koch/Davies/Richo/Restas/Cardone/Osborn forever?

Glad I'm not the only one who thinks his behaviour is that of a complete d*ckhead.

Um, anyone who follows football knows he acts like a complete twat. He’s just a gross creature !

If the board knows he's looking elsewhere isn't that enough for them to tell him to fack off?
I posted back in September 2017 when Hinkley asked to be released from his contract to take the Gold Coast job that he should have been released immediately and told not to let the door hit him on the arse in the way out. Instead the morning TV show buffoon had his ego affronted and gave Hinkley a contract extension instead as he couldn't bear a coach quitting on him.

...
Why the feck would there be?

If this was ever being considered the board is completely clueless.

I'm struggling to believe the Ken wanting to go to Gold Coast 2023 thing with the board's blessing, if the majority of any board is happy for you to leave they'd be just as happy to sack you.
Weren't the board also supposedly happy for him to break his contract and take the Essendon job? They're happy to have him walk but don't have the gonads to sack him.

Yea I don't believe that one either as amateur as we are I just can't see a collective thought like that with someone they continuously re-sign.

I of 3 things will happen.

1. A succession plan is announced early into the season.

2. The club is tight lipped to see how the team is doing, if we are going well, a new contract could be on the cards.

3. Hinkley spits the dummy, has a cry to the media and walks away from the ungrateful club and it's fickle supporters.

Place your bets.

4. David Koch gives Hinkley a two year contract extension in March because Daddy Donuts can't be expected to coach with the stress of not knowing if he has a job in 2026.

Great to see season 2025 is already a write off while we wait for Donuts to ride off into the sunset.

If we want Carr as coach in 2026 why wait until then?

Sack the prick now.

I want to believe Chew's source but the decisions the club has made or not made is contradicting everything
Chewy's source seems to be a bit naive and while their heart seems to be in the right place they seem to be being fed what they want to hear and not what the board are actually planning.

There never has been, but an earlier poster alluded to it so I clarified it in a following post.

I think you're all naive thinking I get my information from a single individual.

And nearly 8 years later Koch and ken are still here! No wonder we all need to be put in a mental home. 🤪🤪🤪

Let's see what happens. If there's nothing publicly announced about a succession plan before round 1, irrespective of any info I get, all bets will be off and I will only presume their intent to keep him going forward.

But I strongly doubt that scenario will happen.

****ing shoot me if it happens.

I’m not understanding a succession plan.
We don’t need one, they just sack and replace.
We’re not doing a Sydney so what’s the point?
I've got the Kochie and co tried and tested, reverse mortgage methodology ™️ approved plans.

Step 1: Hire Kenny
Step 2: ??????
Step 3: Profit

They'll sack him after the preliminary. They'll sack him after the grandfinal. They'll sack him after trade. They'll announce a succession plan before Christmas. They'll announce a succession plan before round 1.

I don't know what's worse, people still believing Chewy or Chewy still believing their sources?

I suggest you go back and read what I've written in the past, because you like many others have interpreted what you've wanted to read as opposed to what I've actually written on numerous occasions.
