It does in the sense that it's a long term strategy to not be so reliant on membership revenue ti survive, which it's not really e coming close to as yet.
So the sale of memberships to people living in China is going to make us less reliant on membership revenue?

..... i wonder how many Chinese memberships there are ... maybe they can pay for Hinkley's removal.

Paul Roos in 2018 on the couch: "Port Adelaide have been the most underachieving side of the decade"
Paul Roos in 2019 on the couch: "Missing the eight should not write off Port's season as a failure"
???
I actually like Roos, but I just noticed a contrast between his comments.

Was thinking about that exact thing last night. Sometimes the "professional's" dont make much sense.

You get defensive about the weirdest things.

I wasn't disputing you, I was just adding to the conversation.

I didn't realise I was being defensive and I did think you were disputing what I'd posted. Weird how that kind of misunderstanding can happen on the interwebz :)

okay

Travis said that? What precisely did he mean?

That success at Port Adelaide isn’t tied to simply making finals. It’s about becoming consistent and reliable as a football team.

If this team was consistent in performance, it would be top four. So just scraping in and getting knocked out in the first week isn’t a pass. A pass would be making finals and playing to a level where the opposition has to beat us, instead of us shooting ourselves in the foot with poor goal conversion and poor decision making (like what happened against Richmond).

So so many in the industry are far too easily hoodwinked by a couple of young players.

It's like doing well in the draft completely writes off years and years of self induced failure.

Paul Roos is an egotistical flog.
I didn't know that getting a premiership for the first time in 72 years for a club and getting another club back on its feet after being down in the dumps for several years classifies as being a 'flog' and even as a commentator he still adds decent input and a more hands-on perspective as part of his coaching experience.

The only thing I don't lie about Roos is that stupid ****ing man shake commercial he's in.

If you’ve got a really good list and you think your club president saying you must make finals is unfair you shouldn’t be an AFL coach.
And yet he was, and not just any coach, but a premiership coach.

You mean like how Brisbane has missed finals since 2009 and has finished bottom four in the past seven years, yet this board holds them up as the paragon of what we should be doing because they are a young team?

Imagine this place if we finished bottom four seven years in a row.

The Brisbane comparison is really only isolated to since Fagan took over, but you make a good point.

Well, at least Ken didn't give up Ladhams or Marshall.
The only one left to sign on is Frampton.

I think the biggest disconnect in the media is that they have the blinkers on and are purely focussed on this year. They see it as the beggining of a rebuild. They forget about our failed initial campaign. They ignore the fact that before this year we were bringing in experienced players for a delusional tilt at the flag. They're judging Hinkley like a second year coach at worst, a first year coach at best.

Conspiracy theory time:
1) Paul Roos has accepted the director of coaching role at Carlton in 2020.
2) Hinkley is in line for the senior coaching position at Carlton in 2020.
3) Roos is now backing off on Hinkley as they know they’ll be working together next year.

Boom.

So they are going to appoint an experienced head coach and still appoint a director of coaching because they know the head coach is not up to it?

I think my hypothetical is more realistic. The one where 🤡 sucks and nobody wants him, and we are stuck with him for at least another season, and nobody will be held accountable for this stuff up.
