At half time Ken called out our unforced errors that gave up some goals. This was a welcome change to the usual work hardery line or credit given to the other team.

He also was critical of our turnovers post game. Quite refreshing.

Hes certainly shown a bit more emotion this year on the regular than in years past. I dont want to see a coach losing the plot every week, but it is good to see Ken showing SOMETHING when for so many games over the past 2 years especially, he has been sitting there in the box like a stunned mullet.

If we'd spent the last 3 seasons strictly playing a 3 KPF (incl Westhoff) forward line regardless of which players were available, we'd be so much better drilled at it and so much better at generating scores, which also makes it harder for teams to set up to rebound against us. All the missed targets and lacks of understanding we have going inside 50 are because of a lack of muscle memory and lack of experience playing this setup. We'll get better if we stick to it.

We closed out the game brilliantly today and Hinkley absolutely gets a big part of the credit for that, but have we optimally prepared ourselves over the journey to challenge for this year's flag?

I think for Hinkley to regain some credibility for me I'd want a prelim at the bare minimum this season. We are not rebuilding. The list profile and the players being picked is strongly indicative of this.

I like Hinkley. I (currently) don't believe he is the man for the job based on the past 5 years. I'm more than happy to be wrong, but there isn't any evidence to suggest he's the man to take us to a flag. We've been in this same position before and missed finals.

It’s a good start largely against poor opposition and there’s plenty to build on if we continue to improve and work on our deficiencies, but why act like finally getting our sh¡t together more often than not is a miraculous achievement worthy of circlejerks, premature celebrations, toldyasos and infinite contract extensions?

I have also noticed how the goalposts have shifted from "winning a flag" to "making finals". Making finals is the bare minimum. But after 8 years at the helm, every season without a flag is a failed season.

Do you mean embarassing that despite everything, he's still our coach?

There is an enormous gulf between winning and optimal strategy and performance. So far we've had several good wins and one very good win. Just last week we got flogged off the park in eerily familiar fashion. I'd still sack Hinkley today if the decision was up to me.

Unpopular opinion this thread: Our 5-1 this season is far more impressive than our 11-4 was.

Anybody that knows anything about football could see the massive flaws and issues in our 11-4 win/loss. This year, based on our performances and players I'm actually starting to believe.
