There's a lot left for Hinkley and the club to prove, such as finishing top, and if we finish top then we MUST be in the GF, and certainly cannot go out in straight sets!
The club has given him everything and so he's got to repay it with success.
The club has occasionally referred to Hardwick's & Richmond's of 8 years to win a flag in justifying Hinkley's long-term tenure and referred Sydney's co-captains with 22 years of finals. Doing this rather than referring to the club's own ways of being successful rustled a lot of true Port Adelaide people.
So the club has set itself up to having to deliver a flag this year and none of us want to see Scott's & North Melbourne's 10 year tenure with two PF losses to show for it.

It's not literally about this thread, it's about the overall shadow of accountability and not accepting mediocrity. This is the only difference between our club and clubs like St Kilda, Fremantle, North Melbourne, Melbourne - and if we lose it, we'll become just like them.
