One thing I take my hat off in the world game is the media doesn't buy the BS when a club or coach is failing. Supporters are ruthless and demanding and media are relentless. Flip things over we have the AFL base and more importantly Port supporters we (a percentage) have allowed failure to become acceptable. That 9 years is a work in progress and that sacking a coach is in some way offensive.

We sacked Russell Ebert when he wasn’t getting the required results if you look deeper he took Port to 3 finals series in 5 years, including a GF appearance. Hardly the record of one of the worst coaches ever. He also rebuilt the ageing three in a row premiership side John Cahill left behind, Port was ruthless now rewards mediocrity rewards Hinkley. The time isn't almost up for the Ken as coach its overdue!

Another key aspect is the board accountability we have zero accountability. They tall about reviews but they have zero reviews. The reason ken still has a job isn't about financial aspect it's the fact he has too many people within the club would be rolled those are Chris Davies Chad Cornes his own son in the coaches box 20210917_212042.jpg

Everytime chelsea loses under tuchel , he takes all the blame saying I must of not prepared the team properly.

Ken always blames someone else, the fact the players like him is truly baffling
Next AGM I'm definitely asking about the buses he keeps throwing the players under.

Ken Hinkley was the right man in 2012 to come in and take the controls of the ship, straighten things up, instill some solid standards and work ethic, and get the club moving in the right direction. The problem is it should only have been for 3 years before moving on and allowing a top quality coach to come in and finish the job.

But a decade later he's still here. He's like the annoying friend who comes over to watch TV, raid your fridge, and is still there when all you want to do is go to bed.

nailed it.

In short:

- wouldn't have done anything different in preparation;
- not putting in Drew was not the reason for the way the game panned;
- to the question whether he was outcoached, he sarcastically replied that he was a genius two weeks ago;
- what we need moving forward are good players;
- believes we are improving and we'll get better next year;
- he's a believer in reviews and will review the game but more importantly the season as a whole;
- doesn't listen to white noise and there will always be 10% of supporters who are negative. There are 62000 members so sees that as sign of confidence;
- he said that both the players and the coaching staff take responsibility, but uses the pronoun "we" instead of I;
- he's 55 and is not beyond tears, but did not explicitly say that he shed a tear like Travis Boak did.
- he's still in for the fight.

I might have missed or misinterpreted something but I am 47 and I am not beyond making mistakes or forgetting a thing or two.

So lose a prelim by 71 points but there’s nothing the head coach would change? Nothing?

His arrogance and stubbornness knows no bounds.

I'm not listening to that condescending ****head talk about how it's not really his fault as if he doesn't really care.

He doesn't know why we played badly. He didn't know why we played badly in the 30 odd times we shit the bed in the last decade. Sack him and hire someone who has the will and the ability to figure it out.

The downplaying of how angry supporters are is particularly galling.

The campaigner actually smirks when he says he's disappointed and shattered in the below clip.

Its referred to as dupers delight.
It is a expression a person displays that betrays a sense of enjoyment they are getting out of controlling, deceiving or manipulating another person.

Well he referred to himself in this arvos interview as being labelled "a genius 2 weeks ago" by fans and media.

He's truly oblivious to criticism and reality.

just saw that clip and my jaw literally dropped.

the fact that he believes the team actually living up to expectation and rolling an ancient Geelong team minus Tom Stewart at home is seen as some epic work of genius on his part is everything that’s wrong with this bozo and the cult of personality around him.

what a spanner.

that is all the worst of Hinkley perfectly summarised in his own wordage in less than 2 min. $%& me.

Surely the players get sick of being thrown under the bus eventually

The best coaches have their players backs (look at Beveridge recently). Ken does the opposite

If he doesn't know why we played badly, how does he know its not his fault?

I'll give you a hint Ken. If you don't know who's at fault. It's probably you.

Carn now, he was a genius 2 weeks ago before the club once again had its pants pulled down by a record margin on the big stage.

Clarkson and dimma will attack anyone who dares even make a slight criticism of there players

reminded of a recent comment in some other thread about process vs outcome coaching. listening to Dimma and Ken address players very differently.

Ken is making players dependent on him. So when he lets them get thrown them under the bus, they would feel they've let Ken down.
