Not only that...

we scored just 1-8-14 after half time and Hinkley himself saw our goalless final quarter as a positive because "we got back control of the ball"

Sack the ******* arsemuncher
I seriously felt that our first half was poor in that we were being massacred at clearances and the oppo were running us ragged.

In fact a fair few of our players looked gassed late in the 2nd term, leading to me to text my missus to say I was more than a little concerned about how the last half was going to play out, even though we were comfortably ahead (due to Essendons poor goalkicking).

Meh. A quick look at the fixture will put your mind at ease. Most of the teams in the fight for the lower reaches of the 8 (Collingwood, Bulldogs, SUNS) have piss easy draws whilst we have a nightmare draw.

You'll need to go 13-9 with a good percentage to make finals this year. Just losing to Melbourne, Freo and Geelong will get us to 9 losses, let alone difficult tasks against Richmond (x2), Sydney, SUNS and Collingwood.

We're screwed and he's gone.

Got interrupted - now to finish my original narrative :rolleyesv1:

The Druggies tore us to shreds in the 3rd stanza, and half way through I had given the game to them in my mind. The wet conditions should have suited us, but the opposite happened!

We steadied during the last 10 minutes, then dominated the final term, playing hard wet weather footy, getting numbers to the contest, winning hard balls and not giving them a sniff.

Thus, I actually agreeed with Hincklemeister's assessment - for a change:

1. The 1st half our clean ball handling and generally precise disposal was the best I've seen for an eternity, but we just didn't close them down with our poor defensive efforts.
2. The last 40 minutes we played ferocious, disciplined, true Port style footy, but our skills deserted us, and we fell over, fumbled, miskicked, dropped uncontested marks, etc and didn't cement our dominance.

So a bizarre match in two entirely disparate portions o_O

Sunday's result put an even bigger bandaid over the cracks in kern's coaching, a better team than the bummers would have almost certainly taken advantage of their clearance superiority and been in front at halftime.
Given the same set of circumstances against the tiggers, I suspect they will have a comfortable lead at the main break.

You aren't wrong but its so disgusting to have minds put at ease by knowing that Port is gonna lose games. What a shit position the club is in.

Here's an eye opener.

When Ken Hinkley was appointed, Robbie Gray had played 70 games.

He's basically wasted Robbie's entire career.

Imagine you paid for a cleaner and gave her the job of cleaning your house. And imagine instead of cleaning your house, the cleaner covered your house in shit. Imagine if the cleaner then cleaned up about maybe half of the shit. Would you say 'well this looks better than it did before when you'd covered the whole house in shit, so I'll invite you back for another job next week', or would you sack her?

Giving that cleaner another job would be roughly the equivalent of giving Ken Hinkley another contract if we sneak into finals this year. Sack Hinkley.

Eye opening doesn't necessarily mean that the thing is good. Could be that Darren now knows how shit Ken really is.

Cahill sitting in the coaches box as an observer is a good sign.
It's not just Ken he'd be watching either.

I feel like it's a win-win.

For us to make finals from here we will have to have genuinely learnt lessons changed and improved in which case we are a chance to go somewhere in finals heading in with Bulldogs 2016 like form (and you never want to waste a chance as they don't come around that often).

If we dont make finals or make finals and flop I feel the most confident I have in ages that Ken will be gone.

The biggest risk of course is if we make finals and actually win one or two without ever genuinely threatening.

If he was there to critically analyse Ken it would be.

He's there to learn for his role with the AFL women's coaches.

Cahill passing on lessons from Ken to the women's coaches isn't a good thing.

Since when has just 'making finals' become the benchmark? What happened to 3 flags in 5 years? We should be ridiculed.

Firstly, there's a lot more to observe in a coaches box than just the implementation of Hinkley's game plan.
Secondly, seeing the processes & procedures in action would be more valuable than any strategic plays.
... and finally, you don't think he can do both things at once?

Seeing we haven't replaced Voss or Schofield, one of two things are happening.

1. The club is in financial difficulty and can't even afford more assistants.

2. They haven't replaced Voss & Schofield because they will need the extra cash to pay Clarkson and leaving room for him to pick a right hand man.

I seriously hope its the latter.
