Unfortunately these will be the majority of members filling out the members survey.

The side effect of having large membership numbers is it means by default lots of theatre goers.

The club under David Koch actively courted these people. I think they'd take more delight in Kelly Clarkson being recruited to sing NTUA than they would in Alistair Clarkson being recruited to coach us.

Under David Koch these people were elevated to the top of the suporter tree. Those of us who sat through the worst years were just to be taken for granted. The "white noise". Now it's starting to bite them. When people like us aren't even bothering to turn up anymore trouble lies ahead.

You need to look after your base 1st. Usually they are the ones that recruit the theatre goers anyway.

Seeing we haven't replaced Voss or Schofield, one of two things are happening.

1. The club is in financial difficulty and can't even afford more assistants.

2. They haven't replaced Voss & Schofield because they will need the extra cash to pay Clarkson and leaving room for him to pick a right hand man.

I seriously hope its the latter.

I guess a new senior coach will want his own assistants so perhaps best not to employ too many new ones.

There is one new assistant though but I forgot his name.

With the info available at the time, I think they made the right call not to replace Schofield and Voss. Monty, Basset and Chad would/should know the system inside out.

If they did well this year then it would've been the right choice not to replace them.

If they went shithouse (as has happened) then Ken will get the flick at year end and the new coach will bring in his own assistants anyway.

Not replacing missing assistant coaches wasn't going to be the "right decision" (read: what got us flag or even a GF appearance). There has been assistant coach churn over the last 10 years. There is one constant in the football department over the last decade.

This is a wasted year of potential development.

The decision to run a skeleton assistant coach crew was made in the post-season of 2021. If they are planning to knife Hinkley during or at the end of 2022, why wouldn't you do it then? New coach, select new assistants. Instead we are left with a season of intensified Hinkley that is sinking the club even further which in turn makes it harder to recruit quality assistants.

How exactly are Montgomery (left/pushed out at WB prior to flag), Bassett (defensive dross at Nord, years of dysfunctional forward strategy at Ports) and Cornes (conflict with Wingard, BIG CUMS for some) well qualified? They are the ticket collectors on the express train to mediocrity.

I couldn't care less about Voss going. If anything people are bemoaning what could have been achieved by simply supplanting Hinkley with him, with the main sentiment being we just need Hinkley gone.
