Not sure I care, if that's what it takes to move on.
I'd take an Essendon drug scandal type list blow up if it meant Hinkley was out the door.

The 1st time I really took note of it was the Showdowns when Don Pyke was at Adelaide. The presser during the week when they had both coaches together, Hinkley would sit there and tell everyone how hard it would be to beat the Crows and how good a coach Pyke was and blah blah blah. They would then ask Pyke what he thought and he would have a look of disdain towards Hinkley and would pretty much just confirm what Hinkley was saying and that Adelaide should smash Port.

It’s baffling. Just the other week:

• “[10th-placed] Richmond are a scary proposition at the MCG and we’ll have to be at our best to beat them”

— Ken Hinkley

• “Ken’s been telling them all week, ‘hey, this is the real Richmond’”

— Leigh Montagna

What does he think repeatedly talking up the opposition as a near-insurmountable task will achieve?

That the oppo will be lulled into overconfidence and go easy on him?

That his own team will be steeled with extreme resolve to give 110%?

How’s this tactic working out for him?

I hate this continual opposition love fest of Hinkley's.

I can't remember Jack Cahill ever saying Oh Glenelg are a really good team, I wish we were more like them. Please love us anyway.

Ashley Porter once wrote something like Port supporters aren't arrogant. They just believe that if they play in the next 100 grand finals they will win them all.

That was how Jack made us feel.

It will give him and the players a more tolerable excuse when we lose. It makes losing acceptable, and as a result his coaching look acceptable. Its the same reason why we've been a "young, developing, growing team" for 10 years in a row. Lower expectations so they can be surpassed. Its damage control.

Incredibly well. He's been here 10 years without a flag and people are still saying he's done a great job. Its actually pretty masterful.

Not really unequivocal

We really need a vomit emoji. If he is not gone by the end of this year I will never come back. I did not renew my membership bout 3 years ago when I had had enough of that idiot. I have since filled my weekends with other things. I am actually moving away from football. If he was to go at the end of this year, I would renew but if he stays for 2023 I actually don't think I would be back ever. It will have been too long and I will have learned to live without football.

I am so angry that it has been 3 or 4 years of absolute crap and they are still in denial.

I was more the defeatist. It was getting to the point of "surely we'll lose one now" ....

or not

It didn't feel like rock solid Ken endorsements from Richo this morning, pretty open ended comments.
In my opinion Richardson was smacked over the knuckles and told to stay in his lane after his last round of comments, by the people who actually do make the call on the future of the coach.

Poor Ken he is always up against it.

It is not easy being an AFL coach and earning possibly a million dollars a year for losing. It is hard to lose but someone has to.

I don't know why people don't see him as a true blue battler. He loses quite often and there is a lot of pressure for coaches that lose but Ken weathers that pressure season after season after season. Not easy.

It's about the best we can hope for at this stage. Like it or not, at 50% W/L finals are still a possibility.
No CEO is openly going to denigrate the coach in our current circumstance. For those that care, and there still seems to be plenty judging by our membership and decent crowds, hope still exists.... Its why that nutjob Northalives berating everybody for not being true Port supporters is just so dumb and delusional. Finals, hope of finals, whatever just keeps the Ken Hinkley shitshow rolling. If we can pull 2 wins from the next 4, which is possible, the shitshow keeps rolling. We'll be 9 and 9 with 4 games to go. Collingwood away, Richmond home, Essendon Away, Crows home. All winnable with a bit of momentum. The shitshow rolls on.

But if we only win 1 of the next 4, it's 8-10 and there will be no illusion that we aren't making finals. So when people say "You're not a true supporter if you barrack against us", they are simply short sighted morons. The bigger picture. The greater good are far far more important.

It was interesting language. Not He'll be here next year but He has a contract for next year.

This is what he should have said last time he was asked. 'Ken is contracted to 2023' and 'Ken will be coaching us in 2023' sound similar but are in fact entirely different statements.

During our darkest years towards the last days of Football Park we were lucky to pull crowds of 18-20,000. Sometimes we barely cracked 12,000. I was an attendee at every single one of those games. Never missed one.
Considering our WORST Adelaide Oval crowds now are in the 23-25,000 range, it's fairly safe to assume plenty of these "true believers" who pass judgement on us and our loyalty now, were not there back then in the clubs darkest hour, attending every game, buying memberships and club merch. For this reason they can all go and get stuffed.

There are some you can use ;)

The only, and I mean ONLY, silver lining about Hinkley potentially coaching on next year is to watch him sweat in the final year of a contract for the first time. His artificially sweetened heart wouldn’t be able to cope and he would pull up stumps before bye round would be my guess.
