Opinion Sack Hinkley 7 - "Turn it around or watch out"

I put this in the Freo trial thread but it is just as relevant in this thread...
Watching the other teams run around in the trial games I am forced to the conclusion that a large part of our Coaching philosophy is to drag the opposition down to our level. Years ago Mick Malthouse won a Premiership with Collingwood using a possession based game plan. The idea was to retain possession and eventually kick more than the opposition. That was 2010 when Hinkley was at Geelong and the Gold Coast and I reckon that tactic has stuck with Hinkley and he will not deviate from it.

Hinkley's game plan is terrible to watch at times and the situation is compounded by the fact that we have a numbskull running our Club who cannot see that this frustrating game plan will eventually turn people off.

We are playing to a 2010 game plan and it is fn ugly to watch. I am looking at the first 5 games and I am not confident that we will win any of them. Our draw is -

Brisbane- AO
Collingwood- MCG
Adelaide- AO
Sydney- SCG
Western Bulldogs- AO

You would hope that we can account for the Crows and Bulldogs at AO but on our pre season form that is not a given. If we do sit 0-5 Hinkley has to be shown the door with immediate effect.

I just hope the season isn't over before it begins, as per last year

I'm feeling quite flat about our prospects this year
Sit back and relax you will witness this club being dismantled piece by piece on the field. The culture of this club has been turned to sh$t under Koch and hinkley. What is happening at Alberton is unprecedented in AFL, VFL and Sanfl history. What we are witnessing is an act of criminal proportions.

It seems quite clear that this group of Power players are struggling with a stale game plan from a coach who has well and truly passed his use by date, and has run out of ideas. I yearn for the day when we finally get a new coach - the talent in our squad can definitely replicate what Collingwood did last year, but they won't get to prove it until Ken falls on his sword.

Or Ken is forcibly pushed onto the sword, whatever comes first is better.

Im trying to find a reason to watch the round 1
I watched the intra, and the first practice game...then missed the second practice game. I don't think I can do it anymore. It's that ****ing boring.

The players have got Stockholm Syndrome.

Dixon’s pop at the fans at 0-2 last year was insane.

I'm not even sure that has really happened before. A player potting fans is so ****ing unusual. We're such a weird place.

If I hear one more player call Kenny a 'mate' I'll probably projectile vomit.
The players are the dolphin jumping through the firey hoop at Marineland, blissfully unaware of a different life.

I mean why would Dixon care if his career is mediocre & unfulfilled, he's here with his 'mate' on big coin & he can play with all his cars in his grudge.. sweet

You are right though players can be pretty thick & the worst judges of what's good for them.

He's come out and publicly said it's the best list he's had at his disposal and yet this preseason has been one of the most underwhelming in memory. So who's fault is that?
My favourite is how quickly one of his assistants walked that statement back and said 'maybe not best 22 but across the full list of 44 it is'

Wank.

From the same premeditated “young team… uhhh young list” playbook of 2019.

Given that missing finals, the outcome is likely the same- new coach in 2024, I want Hinkley to coach out the season and we get absolutely torched and finish bottom. That's a far more palatable outcome because we will get a new coach, Pick #1 and zero chance of Hinkley being able to manufacture any sort of acceptable departure. Such as finish may even be enough to evict a few other no-hopers.

I want him to leave as the embarrassment and failure that he has been. I don't want even a skerrick of positivity left in our club's history, regarding his tenure as coach.
