they will extend him because they are just happy to be competitive even if it mean missing finals because they will dress it up as a rebuilding period, after all Robbie quite, If you wont admit failure then your not going to change your ways are you. Add to that the media protection again

Neither of these things are what I think.

I think in 2021 our coaches box was miles better than in 2022. Rating each coach on a scale of -10 to +10...

2022 box:
Hinkley = -2
Senior Assistant Vacant = -10
Bassett forwards = -5
Monty mids = -2
Cornes def = -8

Total = -27

2021 box:
Hinkley = -2
Voss senior assistant = 7
Bassett forwards = -5
Schofield mids = 8
Monty def = 9

Total = 17

And yes, if we get in a great team around him we may go ok again like in 2020 and 2021. The problem is that for finals you need an extra gear which falls largely on the senior coach, which Ken doesnt have. Its why we havent won a knockout final since 2014.
The statistics don’t actually match up with your ratings, you know. We were weaker this year but not by the margin you’re suggesting.

1884 to 1492 in 2021
1695 to 1583 in 2022

86 points for, 68 points against
81 points for, 75 points against

5 less points scored per game - which I say is a result of Dixon, Lycett and Fantasia not being available for the entire year, considering we are 18th for hitouts per game, similar to 2016.

7 more points conceded. Definitely due to replacing Montgomery with Cornes who started the year off extremely poorly but has gotten better - but not good enough.

12 points missing per game - which was the difference between Brisbane, Adelaide, Carlton, Richmond, Fremantle, Geelong and Collingwood. 12 points would have had us at 14 wins, 2 draws and 5 losses - 60 points and 4th on the ladder coming into the final round.

But what I’m saying is that Dixon, Fantasia and Lycett are good for more than just 12 points a game. I’m saying if you get Dunkley as well and add another goal kicking forward/mid, you’re looking at 90> points per game for and <65 points against.

At the start of this year my main concern was where we would find the explosive mid that we need to challenge the best teams and give them something to think about. By the end of this year we will have that in Rozee and his forward line replacement at the draft.

We’re talking incremental differences.

Time to get rid of Kochie mate.
As big as his media presence is, it's not worth keeping him around if he can't make the tough decisions when needed.
Things only starting to change at the roos because Hood came in and started cleaning house.
I'd be more than happy with Humphrey B. Bear as his replacement - for starters, he wouldn't talk anywhere near as much crap......

When I read this thread now this is all I see

I can't do another year of Hinkley and Koch, I will now ween myself off the club, there are lots of family things to do, at least I won't have to make family engagements around Port Adelaide any more.
Seeing Koch regards members as white noise, I don't suppose they will miss my financial support.
Wow I never thought it would come to this, where a few think they are bigger that the club and it's members. That edge we used to have is gone, we belong with St Kilda middle of the road forever more.
All yours Happy Clappers.

Im going along to say my farewell to Robbie Gray on Saturday night and then I'm done. Life goes on.

I just don't see Hinkley even working in the AFL after next year.

He'll be 57 by the end of the 2023 season. He'll milk the last year out of his contract and I reckon that will be it. Surely after 11 years of an average of $600k he would have stashed a fair bit away and bought some decent assets over the time? He's 3 years off being able to access his Super. I honestly see him buying a small acrage in south western Victoria, buy an interest in a kennel, coach the local Country team for $50k a year and have local sponsorship entailing all the mutton he can eat from the town Abbotoir and a life time of free Ugg Boots from the local suppplier.

I couldn't have put this better myself. Koch is the real problem and it keeps getting worse the longer he's in charge.

This suggests that he's not only been promised to see out next year, but an extension is well on the cards:

He won't get an extension. But the damage is already done.

What gets me about Hinkley and his 10 years is this belief that it would be some sort of tragedy if he was lost to the senior coaching ranks, and needs to be kept around, at this club's expense, for the greater good.
There's a premiership coach currently working the interchange bench at Melbourne because he's passed his use-by date as a senior coach.
Gary Ayres read the tea leaves and got out of the entire AFL system to go dominate in the VFA. He's finished.
There are plenty of others too, but this hillbilly, this shyster, has this totally fabricated aura built around him that if we lose him to the sport the sport will lose.
It is just unbelievable head scratching stuff.

Sounds to me like she has given Clarko and end of weekend ultimatum

On SM-G975F using BigFooty.com mobile app

Have to say I thought she was very cringey, trying to talk tough and sound genuine whilst trying to appear confident of landing Clarko all at the same time. 'Come back and ask about plan B' LOL I thought ken, kanye and rucci were leading shlt spinners

Token appointments don't achieve anything for anyone involved/concerned
