They lose these next two games and enter August on the back of a 3 game losing streak and a second Showdown loss for the year, absolutely no way they could possibly give him an extension at that time even if they wanted to. The optics would be horrific.
Still staggered that Kane with all his unwavering hubris hasn't had the epiphany and asked Caro on Classified if she'd want Ken as the Richmond coach - would love to get that answer on the record.
Lastly, the amusing thing about all of this is that if Ken were offered a long term deal at the Gold Coast everyone in the industry knows he'd jump on it. That's been his dream job for many a year. High salary, great lifestyle (he will likely retire up there) and a single finals appearance would be celebrated like winning a grand final such are the standards so low.
If you want to make your voices heard, go and contact Rob Snowdon (his contact details can easily be found online) - whilst I don't have any official confirmation, I've been led to believe he was the one driving a lot of the procedural setups after the round 3 loss this year, and as the only footy man on the Board, he will have quite a say in determining Ken's official future.

At the time our season was expected to be over in August. Great time to sack someone and sort out the list.

I think we'll lose the next 3, have a scrappy win against the Giants, usual loss to Freo in Perth, beat Richmond last round, finish 16-7 and 4th on the ladder. Extension for Daddy in the bye round. Lose to Collingwood QF. Probably straight sets at home but otherwise lose another prelim and be stuck with Daddy forever. Cream on the cake would be Carr getting the Richmond job at some point in this story arc.

Apart from swapping results with Richmond and Freo, that’s pretty much what I put in this post. Hopefully I can add more red crosses than green ticks over the next month.
Here's a fun scenario:
Koch & Co begin negotiations with Hinkley's agent for a 2-3 year extension.
We lose to Carlton
Carr interviews for the Richmond job.
Ken's extension gets announced in the first week of August, right before our Geelong game, which we lose.
We beat Giants and Freo, and lose to Richmond, to finish the season with 16 wins and 7 losses.
Going into finals with Dixon, Lycett, Aliir, JHF, and McKenzie under injury clouds.
Underdone backups in Lord, Hayes, Fantasia, and Visentini.
Jonas is back as a regular in the side.
Play Collingwood in the first QF and lose
Play Adelaide in the SF and lose.
Richmond announce Carr as their head coach for 2024.
Dixon, Lycett, Boak, McKenzie, Clurey, all announce their retirements.
Hinkley windmills his way to his shuttered oasis.
We wake up in February and go through the whole nightmare again.

Ken will be seating bullets if he remains unsigned before finals, he knows hes a fraud but is hoping he can call our bluff again. Today tonight should do a cover story on the "multi millionaire con-man who has spent a decade fleecing a local football club with little or no-return"
Look I hope we get back to our full team pressure best in the next few weeks, but you gotta love how the damage control for Ken is already on the record from the usual suspects.. ruck issues, short in defense, depth etc. etc.

I like how they just absolve him of any responsibility for the lack of development in those areas over the last 10 years. Every year they act like he's a second year coach.
Particularly if they give him another 2 years
