It’s curious how people get affected by one overnight result. Now suddenly Carlton are to be feared as a premiership threat, our game against Collingwood doesn’t look as good etc.
Let’s just wait and see.
I’m also not sure where this idea that supporters are happy with how we went last week against Collingwood came from.

If we lose tonight and next week, we could very well drop out of the top 4.

That’s how fine the line is. They need to hold their fire until the season is done.

They're not falling out of the 4 unless they lose their remaining 5 games and Carlton and another of the teams in the 5-8 range go on a 5 win streak to finish the year.

I agree they need to hold on any contract stuff until the season is over though. The game is all about winning in September. Winning from March through August means absolutely nothing if you can't win in September.

And if the Board at so spineless such as to extend Hinkley prior to finals commencing, they too should be on the chopping block and made way for a new group (including Tredrea) who will bring a more ambitious and ruthless approach in their search for success.

I can’t stand gatekeepers like this. Get absolutely farked mofo, they can enjoy what they want you sanctimonious ball sack.

This wider culture that has crept in over the past 7 or 8 years, where certain supporters silently tolerate — and often defend — year after year after year of incompetent, stinky, selfish, gaslighting garbage (“we’re young… it’s a dynasty we’re after, not a sugarhit!”) from absolute f#%kwitted losers in the Chairman, CEO and head coach roles (among others), and then malignantly gatekeep at the first sign of competence, is absolutely wild.

We’ve even seen it here with a pair of prominent dickheads criticising the Hinkley protesters and stayaways as soon as ThE StReAk blew out to 3-4 weeks onward.

They must looooove the taste of turds.

It's a childish game of "I'm a better supporter than you are, so nerrr".

Like being a supporter of a club is a calm and considered pursuit of logic and reason, and not an emotionally charged, tribalistic proxy to satisfy our inbuilt, primal bloodlust.

We've been there many times before in the last 11 years. The only discernable difference of late being Snowdon. Unless the decision was made at the end last season to move Hinkley on and the succession plan is already in play, this is going one way and it ain't good.

The difference is that Ken is out of contract at the end of this season. In previous years they have had to weigh up the pros and cons of getting rid of Ken and hammering their soft cap expenditure or keep Ken and be thereabouts without truly contending.

They also haven't had an obvious replacement lined up as a successor.

The Club are going to have to ask themselves a lot of questions surrounding Ken's future and what that looks like with this playing group. It's not a straight forward clear cut process. If they think Carr is senior coach material they have some difficult decisions to be made.

If I were in a position of power I would be pushing for Ken to leave but I also understand that a succession plan might be the best option. For instance, if Richmond come hard after Carr, the Club could lose him before Port even play finals. But if you think he's senior coach material you're then faced with potentially getting rid of Ken prior to finals which would also never happen. Announcing a succession plan which guarantees you keep Carr as assistant the next 2 years before taking over in 2026 with Ken leading in the mean time could be a happy medium whereby all parties are satisfied not to mention it is a decision that could be made without finals being a determinant on the decision making process - which is a very soft landing for the Board.

Matthew Nicks' bitch.

This is absolutely embarrassing. Everything to play for. Looking like they'll be swept in the showdown this year which will make it also losing 3 of the last 4.

First week of August starts Monday. If Koch wants to evaluate Ken's position at that point surely there's no way they could possibly extend him.
