I wasn't mad when it happened but I understood it was harsh. Operating with a cooked list on a shoestring footy budget, and things were looking ok before someone dropped a injury bomb on the club in mid 2012. We were 4-6 at the time.

I have zero doubt with better luck and fitness we could have won 10 games that season.

The coach had convinced them that they just needed to show up to win. It didn't work out that way but that's OK because someone has to lose and it gave them more time to enjoy the things that really matter instead of playing in a Grand Final. It's not as if Hinkley's job was on the line.

As Hinkley said after the game in regards to the preparation, he "wouldn't change a thing".

Whenever the coach gets even the slightest bit of criticism, the players fall over themselves to say it's their fault, not his.

Whenever there's a criticism of the players, suspension, umpiring, whatever, daddy donuts goes out of his way to throw the player under the bus lol.

The players are like the domestic partner in an abusive relationship, sticking up for their gaslighting abuser. "It's all our fault, we deserved it. Daddy ken just wants what's best for us".

Sickening stuff.

He didn't really leave on good terms. We had the Arsenal partnership etc. some burgess fitness academy all setup for him and he bailed. Didn't go down all that well.

I’ve been a bit of a veteran of this thread and have been invested in the absurdity that is Ken Hinkley. I especially get annoyed by how the media are complicit in keeping this fraud in a job (especially that weasel Whateley).

My mates in a WhatsApp group love giving it to me about Hinkley as I was born not far from him and they think I have taken a set on him and it must be based on some long established grudge.

But I just get so frustrated seeing the lack of accountability around him. When the team wins, it’s down to him, when they lose, the players get thrown under the bus.

I’ve never seen such a simpleton manipulate the media and public like Ken. It’s something to behold.

With your club’s history it must be so frustrating that someone like this has been allowed to come in and destroy everything your club stands for from within.

It’s horrible to be gaslit like this. Stay strong, you have at least one opposition supporter in me who sees through this fraud and the complicity of the media.

Yeah, it’s like the Harry Hindsight ‘our list was never good enough’ 2014 revisionism.

If we didn’t completely botch the backend of that season Matthew Lobbe, Jackson Trengove, Cam O’Shea, Jasper Pittard and Kane Mitchell are Grand Final players at a minimum, just like Scott Lycett, Will Schofield, Tom Cole, Mark Hutchings and Chris Masten were in 2018.

It's sort of like real estate, you can buy the average house in the good street or the best house in the average street.

We have a good list with a bad coach, an average list with a good coach would achieve more than Hinkley.

It’s staggering that he remains the lone common denominator overseeing the exact same sh¡t year-in/year-out, and the closest we ever get to identifying the problem is the Chairman inciting a groundswell against checks notes… Warren Tredrea.
