Koch has just retired from his day job and publicly said he want to devote more time to "his footy club". There's a clue in the '20 year' remark... strap yourselves in coz neither of these blokes are going anywhere anytime soon.
Yeah it was probably more projection because he wants to be here for 20 years himself.

Hence the caveats for Ken re performance etc.

Last year, instead of letting Hinkley see out his contract, we should have just sacked him and appointed Josh Carr anyway.

There was always the risk of “if we go well next year then we have to extend him again” by letting him see out his contract, now we’re stuck between a rock and a hard place because of that.

We don't get many opportunities to sack him for free. His contract is up. We can get rid of him for nothing

Why not? He's not going to take us anywhere good so why are we obliged to re-appoint him if he has a good minor round.

I personally take more notice of % than premiership points and I think that makes us the 6th best team. In my opinion come Round 23 I expect to see us in 4th or 5th and if its 5th we have a decent chance to go out first week if history is anything to go by.

I don't want us to lose but people especially Koch needs a reality check and I'll be the first person down at the club with a dozen eggs if Stinkers gets re-appointed before the finals.

Football will then be dead to me.

Waiting til August to decide hinkleys fate means its based on the season, I say wait til October when finals are over. Hinkleys history shows he still could lose the rest of the season.
Yep I agree, should come out and say we will look at it once season is over..

Keep the coaches and playing group on edge.. absolutely no need to make a move.. if a club comes looking then don’t flinch.

I fear if he’s resigned we will revert back to our bland bullshit brand of footy

To be fair I heard those words come out of Koch's mouth that they are going to wait until the end of the season but with a whole load of other white noise and to be honest I don't trust a word that he says to the media and supporters.

Maybe the August time was to give them a better choice to choose from as seasons end most positions have been sorted out by then.
In all honesty the Dogs preliminary final should have been his last game,fk the pay out.
This is what happens when you have a mug like Koch running things.

I haven't been in this forum since asking for Ken's head in (I think) round 3.

We then started winning and I told myself I'd better keep away as I didn't want to jinx it. I still don't, but after that first-half demolition of Hawthorn (which I have just finished watching), I felt I had to (so yeah, you can blame me if we lose our next game).

Sorry for coming on here, ignoring dozens of pages of discussion, and then asking such a broad question, but - what changed? Is it something tactical? I remember lots of people complaining of a lack of forward structure, but now we seem to be doing really well even without Dixon. Or maybe is it players just clicking into form (especially Butters, oh my word, what a player!), and we still expect it to fall apart before the end of the season? Maybe a bit of both, I have no idea.

I have watched every match this season so far and enjoyed those last few games so much, particularly our hard-fought close wins against good opposition.

In the 9 weeks the obvious difference is Stinkers not in the coaches box. Now none of us is going to know what positive benefits there are to having him down there but we appear tactically to have completely changed.

Players are playing with freedom, able to kick and run through the middle of the ground which gives us much cleaner delivery into the forward 50, we are able to get more one-on-one contests inside 50 and better chances to mark inside 50. Gone are the stop start bomb into 50 Charlie spoils and cross your fingers that Robbie can snap a goal.

Positionally, DBJ into the forward line and Mac & Cheese as defensive small forwards have been a big win.

Also its meant Williams has come in at the back. Houston, Burton, Bergman, Williams, Farrell, McKenzie and Bonner are the best kicking back half in the league at the moment. It's meant that there is less of Jonas kicking. The mids are getting better and if things come unstuck Boak back into the middle works still. They have come so far that Wines is like a role player which is a great thing because he can get better. Drew has improved out of sight as well even though he could clean up his kicking still.

Unfortunately I think we are peaking too early in the recent 8 day break apparently they got flogged on the track (wouldn't be because somebody wants a new contract) and I think we will fall away in the second half of the season but its been a nice ride so far and we look every bit a top 4 side for now.

Josh carr is coaching
Kens now a cheerleader

No I bagged you Karen’s after round 1 when I was sunning and partying in Bali. Seems I was right
Person brags about holidaying in Bali, calls other people losers.

Bloody well said!!!

I mean to be fair thats exactly what a person who holidays in Bali would say and do.

Should've just announced the succession plan at the start of the season. This is a rancid situation the club has found itself in.

It would have been a win for everyone. Carr gets to ease into the role, the club gets to move on smoothly, Hinkley gets to exit gracefully with a farewell lap, and jaded fans get some hope and some enthusiasm to get behind the club and the team again.

This probably me coping but hopefully now that Kochie has retired he won't give as much of a shit about the bad press that will come with whatever decision he makes.
