Lol no he didn't.

Maybe 3 direct turnovers hitting Hawthorn players.

The other 5 missed the targets completely and fell into Hawthorns lap.

The point is.. it would be nice if he can improve that part of his game.

He does a lot of good things too
How many were in our defensive half? All of them? Half? 1 or 2?

Did he gain 50m with the kicks? Was he under pressure? Did it give the back line time to reset?

Did the person webster was kicking to lead to the right spot?

90% of disposals at AFL level are under some form of pressure.

The Players that seperate themselves from being average to elite have the ability to make good decisions under pressure & hit targets.

Webster has ability and looks to have a sound kicking technique but for what ever reason is the number one ranked turn over player in the competition.

It needs to be addressed. It's pretty simple

Still fading out in 4th quarters. We kept the Hawks to 4 goals for 3 quarters and let them kick 4 in the last. Obviously wasn't punishing because it's the Hawks, but if we're to take any step up, fitness has to improve.
We kicked 5.3 to 4.2 though so we still outscored them. Brucey's brain fart cost us a 6th too

As they said in the commentary, he easily takes the most risky kicks in the league. I'd love to see how many of his disposals result in a goal to us compared to a goal to our opposition due to his risky creativity. Kudos to him though, he absolutely destroyed Breust yesterday

Webster is a magnificent kick, but that fact alone sees him trying some kicks he probably shouldn't. Happens a few times a game and cost us a few goals last week.

Thing is with our game plan it's the sort of things we'd be encouraging as when they come off it really does open up the space.

Difference between him and say, Newnes is that Jack is a bit more careful with it depending on the scenario.

Which will probably come along for Jimmy with a bit more experience.

Also they're a lot easier to stomach after yesterday than the result from last week.

Just needs to learn that more often than not a 45 metre kick down the line that winds up out of bounds is a pretty good result.

Webster is still pretty inexperienced, he's only just pst the 50 games mark and he will get better with a bit of continuity. His stocks would be rising this year. It's up to Savage to try to make a case to get him out of that spot.

I don't care what he went for you ibis it was ******* hilarious

Not enough Choomah in this post.

You could at least put in a few descriptive words about the Ibis.

I think you're spot on. Webster is a beautiful kick, it's more his decision making that costs him. Specifically he likes to look up and go for it, which is actually a positive trait, but it means he sometimes doesn't completely assess the options. Watching Roberton, he just seems to take that split second longer to assess and make sure.

The reason Webster is in ahead of Savage is pretty clear - tackling. Savage just wasn't tackling enough and his tackles weren't sticking. Webster is a tackling machine and hurts opposition players with his tackling. His overall game has improved out of sight and frankly I doubt we will see Jimmy back in the 2nds again in his career.

+1 this. webster also has that natural mongrel in him that savage doesnt. he looks like he's one that wouldnt mind some biff

Websters no 1 for defensive turnovers in the league. Tell me how does that make him magnificent?

Lol. I dont believe that for a second.

Even Gilbert in the ruck looked ok against that rabble.

Mumford will destroy Longer and by proxy their midfield will get first use.

Great positivity Joffa... this is a bit unlike you.

You can expect two things from Billy next week... he won't be intimidated by Mummy & will try to hurt him back.

If he can limit his influence around the ground then it'll will go a long way to influencing how our midfield goes.

I think this year Webster has been given the green light to take on more game breaking kicks which if they work lead to a score.

Of course these are higher risk then just chipping it around the backline. Easily in the top 10 bf so far.

Spot on DS... Richo wants the half back line to take risks & hit targets aggressively in the corridor. That's going to result in turnovers from time to time but you can see what he's trying to do. Once it becomes an automatic response to look & hit up a target in the centre, our game plan will kick into overdrive.

This is similar to what Clarko drilled into Hawthorn in the mid 2000's. They struggled initially but then just became absolutely elite at hitting targets and cutting the opposition to ribbons.

Especially with a pie and a can in his hands.

I reckon that bump that Billings rode in (I think in the 3rd) may just help to define his career.
Now he realises it doesn't hurt (not suggesting he's a squib) he may just show even more class, by going for the 50/50 balls.
I think it was a better reflection on where Gibson is at tbh.

Thought i did in the post you've quoted. He's got a great kick so he takes more risks with the ball. More risks means higher chance of turnovers.

They're not like the turnovers that completely miss the target by a few metres. Most of Websters would hit the target if opponents didn't intercept because he's taking risks to try break down the zone if that makes sense.

He's a gun. Love JWeb. You'll come around eventually.
I like jimmy hes tough but his decision making is awful. Your either born with footy smarts or your not. Like dennis commetti says "goal kicking cant be taught your born with it". His competitor Rice on the other hand is a brute fantastic mark has speed and is clinical with his possesion. I know what i would prefer. Good problem to have the cream always rises to the top.
