Well I hope they are next. Time to move on the people who don't care about the well being of the football club! The culture needs to change and it needs to happen now!Surprising the board hasn't come under as much scrutiny as Neeld has.
Well I'd much prefer Frawley and Watts over Neeld...
I'm not saying Neeld has been a good coach. I'd love to, because I was optimistic when I first heard him speak, but the results have not been encouraging, clearly. That said, why on earth would you want to keep Jack "more scared of physical contact than Megan Fox" Watts or James "I can't even be bothered raising my hands above my head while standing the mark" Frawley?
I'm telling you now, the fastest way to get this club's on-field performance back on track is to delist EVERY SINGLE PLAYER who was on the list for 186. Every. Single. One. Except Jonesy, because he's frickin' Jonesy. The entire club is rotten to the core with crap personnel, from the board to the bootstudder. I want the whole lot of them cleaned out, because all I care about is the colours and the history and the song.
There's barely a player wearing our colours that deserves to be on the ground, and with 15 gone last year, I'm hoping for 15 more this year, which means there's only 10 to go next year and the job will be complete. Then we might see someone running to create space at a kickout. Or shepherding a team-mate. Or running to create an option in traffic so the handball doesn't go to a flat-footed bloke who's less than a tenth of a second from getting poleaxed by four blokes at once.
I don't give a crap about these fella's "future potential" like Watts or "2010 form" like Frawley because from what I've seen in the last two years they can't be arsed, so I say trade them for whatever they're worth and lets just start from scratch.

The thing about Neeld is if you were to make a list of the problems that need to be fixed at Melbourne he doesn't even make the top ten. Rather than sacking a coach 30 matches into his contract, why don't we fix the other stuff like getting some actual competent assistant coaches instead of Rawlings and Royal and then we can make a decision about whether Neeld can coach when he has some sort of support structure around him.
Apparently we don't have boot studders. According to Dawesy, the players sort out their own boots.

If we do something, it's not to satisfy the players. It'll be the board gone, the FD gone and an experienced coach who will leave the players quaking. If we're this bad by the middle of the year, I'd be giving Roos a call, and then Choco and then Eade.
I was just curious as to what the general feeling was with you guys regarding the issue of a POSSIBLE change of Head coach (without trying to be inflammatory). Would the above 3 be front runners or is there someone else that may be approached ?
P.s I've never posted on another board before so I hope this is not taken as provocative, it's nothing more than an honest question.
P.P.S I hope things turn around for the MFC sooner rather than later.
Last year I would've said no
Pre season I would've said no
Round 1 I thought "hmmmmmmm"
Round 2 I was too stunned to think
Round 3 half time, I thought "hmmm this is better"
End of Round 3 I thought *&$@#$&#*
Three Quarter Time Round 4 I thought "he's gone. gone gone gone gone gone"
End of round 4, I thought "12 goals in the last quarter, did he just get them to flick a switch? I know it was only a tired GWS but still, its something"
Since then, they've shown nothing more than patches. And the a lot of absolute horrible
I've supported Neeld, knowing the task he was up against was so monumental that it would take time.
However I expected some progress this year, and really, we've had none
I'd hate to tip him now when he'd might be ready for the team to turn a corner, but how much damage is being done to the club in the meantime?
Is it reversible? Is it permanent? Is he doing the right thing, but we're just too impatient? Is he just a dud?
Is the corner going to be turned like it was with Hardwick after 9 horrific losses on the trot and being compared to Fitzroy?
I just don't know where I stand on this
On one hand I want him gone, never to be seen at the club again, and that he can take Gilles / Rodan / Byrnes / Pedersen with him
On the other hand I have HUGE sympathy for him and what an ordinary list he was left with, what a shit storm was brewing re tanking / in fighting / schwab / board etc.
I just want success, I don't want competitive. I want success. I want the Coach, Board and Players who will deliver that
I don't think Neeld and his style is receiving support per say. It seems to be more, what's the point of getting rid of him. I can’t recall one of the no-sacking posters saying ‘we shouldn’t sack him because he’s good’ more just, what good would it do.This...
I am still a bit staggered by the support he is receiving.. His appointment statement was a promise to MFC members, to 'make us the most difficult team to play against'.. this is what he is judged on and this will be the comment that nails the coffin shut!!
If you take 2 years to install a defensive mindset, then record losses are not going to help the cause..

Yeah i hear you... But there is a lot of talk about keeping him, for the sake of not paying out the contract and perhaps just putting in some better support to help him.I don't think Neeld and his style is receiving support per say. I'm of the opinion he should go, but I think the arguments for not paying out his contract, putting in better support, who else! are all really good arguments. It's just for me, the arguments against keeping outweigh those for keeping him.Yeah i hear you... He just doesn't seem like the guy to take advice too well.. Just my impression.

I have a friend who works in the media and said that Laidley's knowledge of game plans and tactics is as good as any.I'm of the opinion he should go, but I think the arguments for not paying out his contract, putting in better support, who else! are all really good arguments. Frankly, it just seems like a lose/lose situation.
I was wondering why Laidley hasn't been talked about more. Might be a decent choice...
