I reckon Berwick could come before beacy. Beacy have brought their juniors over to efnl and I think also their women’s.
Berwick don’t seem to travel - both away games I have seen them they have been at the lower end of crowds we get at Blackburn.

Noble seem to be in a rebuild - could they be tempted back to a stronger sfl?

And what about the likes of Chelsea bonbeaxh Edi Asp?

I reckon Will Smith has left Doveton too, looks like he's joining Beena from what the career path they've put up on their story. Could be wrong but big loss if true.
You were right. Just announced. Doveton have lost some decent players thats for sure. Deakyn smith, Sam Muirhead and now Will Smith. Huge losses. And haven't really bought much in to replace those losses either.

Yeah would expect them to regress a bit, can't see them missing finals regardless
They wouldn’t want to miss finals that would make them look stupid after they come in the sfnl saying they should of been in div1 to start and said they will be in Div 2 for only a year most people there bagged the sfl for years and thought they were certain to win a Div 2 flag like a few others they got a surprise and found the standard better than expected

Yep. Look at Hampton park in division 3 when they started. They thought they were a moral to win it but took them a few years. Now they’re a middle of the road division 2 team

Yes you are right Hampton park even had people come to the club that had been involved in sfl as players and coaches and told them it was a better standard and it took a few years for them to realise that but and have recruited well this year bringing in coaches and players from higher standard football and keysbourgh had some really good side when they come in and good sides over the time and they haven’t got out of Div 2 yet but the way Doveton people were talking and the way they bagged the sfl it’s very enjoyable to see them still in Div 2

This never really made sense to me because 10-15 years ago The league was
Narre, Cranny, Berwick and Beacy in the top 4 and then dovey, hp, keysy, tooraddin and officer bottom half of the ladder. The bottom half teams regularly lost to the top half teams so when the lesser teams have said they should be higher it's always amused me...

Agreed Doveton had a couple of good years when bully Wilson coached them and a couple of other years went ok but that club believes they are still the same as they were in the early 80s when they were really strong to many live in the past there it’s mostly there supporters and people that run the club not so much there players iv found

i think dovey are in a bit of trouble this year, if no recruiting done in the new year. Losing 3 of your top 5 best players, already a older team. They may lack a bit of class and poise. Ive been wrong before however

I think they'll still be pretty handy. But they've last there best avenue in front of goals, and a couple of mids. That would hurt any team. Won't be quite as dangerous as this year I don't think.

Don't forget the old farts that came back mid year to push blokes out of the senior team that ran out of legs. They'll probably go also. Will affect the magoos and make it even easier for HP and EH to walk through the comp in 2025.

Yeh it'd never a good look when older boys come in just to chase a flag. Ruins a lot of culture with young guys and then they end up bailing because of it.

I can't see anyone beating HP or East Malvern, the amount of money they've spent on top players will be hard to beat. EM just picked up another gun ex Caulfield/ VFL player too.

I think everyone else financially just can't compete with the money they're outlaying on players.

Looks like EM have not lost anyone from there playing group in 2024, and have gained what looks to be 6-7 senior genuine players. Who mostly are 1 pointers, they are going about it the right way to be recruiting young, local boys to go up to div 1 and make a go of it.

Clear favourites to win the comp in 2025 for me.

Early Prediction and happy to be proven wrong
HP vs EM 1s
HP vs EHills 2s
Yep seems pretty accurate.

My ladder predictions are -

1. East Malvern
2. Hampton park
3. Chelsea Heights
4. Doveton
5. Caulfield
6. Frankston
7. Mordialloc
8. Endeavour hills
9. Keysborough
10. Highett

I'm quite confident with the top 4, but from 5 down I reckon could be a toss of a coin on each times right day.

I’ll go slightly different but i think like you said from top couple it’ could be anyone of 5 sides to finish in any order east Malvern. Hampton park. Chelsea heights. Doveton. Frankston. Mordialloc. Caulfield. E/ hills. Keysbourgh. Highett Think Frankston will be in mix great depth with really strong 2s who won past 3 flags plus u/19s and have not lost many and recruited a few good players from higher level leagues Mordialloc have picked up a lot of players and coming from Div 1 will also make them competitive not sure about Chelsea as they don’t seem to have picked up much and 2s struggled the last few years and the doves losing a few to retirement or other reasons and have a few players who are over 30 might drop down as well Caulfield had a older list as well and mot sure what they have picked up or lost player wise e/hills and keysbourgh will still be competitive on there day and highett will struggle after losing a couple of there best players and don’t seem to have picked up much to replace them

Hampton Park, Chelsea, Doveton, Malvern and Frankston top 5 for me.

I’d say East Malvern with their age profile should ascend but their captains Morrisby and Amendola apparently where shopping themselves around again this off season so not sure what the buy in or culture is like but the new coach should be a big upgrade on their old.

Hampton Park have lost a few top end players to bunyip and pakenham but no doubt will be right up their, they were up their with beena and doveton when healthy last year but depth is the question with no juniors.

Doveton have lost 3 of their top 5 but they are a strong club so will find a couple to replace, they probably need some coaching adjustments too as they dominate at home and can’t win finals which I’m sure this year will be at Cheltenham or Springvale

Chelsea are notoriously strong in D2 but just survivors in D1 , I would expect them to add a few and be contenders immediately.

Frankston have come up and are a powerhouse on the rise. I could see them in D1 in the next 5 years with their numbers and have had okay 19s for a few years now.

Bears I’m very skeptical of, played at max points all of last season with not much in their twos and some stragglers in their 1s too. Club has been middle of the road for a long time and has never got 19s off the ground.
I believe they added a ruck from beena who won the reserves norm smith so that might help as their ruck bollard has to be late 30s.

Mordi, very poorly run since their de La Salle exodus in 17-19 when they had a big sponsor throwing plenty at them and have never recovered. Have had finals for a few years and that still didn’t seem to help.

Keys, no juniors, old list, would need a miracle to push for finals.

Endevour hills had an admirable season and have great numbers on field but aren’t upto D2 finals as a list or a club.

Highett have never been a great club and seem to be a shit show, coming from D1 a couple of years ago were semi competitive but the bottom has fallen out, they are sniffing around cheltenhams 2s but would need 5-6 of them to not get relegated next year

Pretty much agree with that m8 i know Hampton Park lost Stanton to Paky but do you know who they lost to bunyip haven’t heard of anyone going there except carver who only played a couple of games at best last year then left to play elsewhere and not many people were unhappy about that

Yeh that’s the 2 , agree not huge losses for what they’ve added, I heard the same about Carver.

Bull would know him from noble too so I’m sure it was an informed decision to not retain him .

All valid points.

Caulfield will be interesting. Haven't lost much, but points are an issue without 19s coming through. Dunn to have a proper season if he doesn't re injured his ACL will help.

HP have well and truelly replaced what they lost and more so they will be very strong.

East Malvern I agree the culture isn't great, but money and connections are helping solve that haha.

Frankston is an interesting one. Strong football corridor, and up and coming club with goals of being in the MPNFL. They will be a strong chance of making finals I reckon.

Doveton seem to slowly be trying to replace.the players they've lost. Hall coming in from Rowville will help that no doubt.
