Kane stated very confidently this morning on SEN this morning that Ken's extension will get done and that he has a verbal agreement.

Made it sound like it is signed and they are just waiting for the right time.

Could be a long wait.

Did he say the contract length, is it really only 1 year?

If Hinkley has agreed to a new deal, questions need to be asked of the Board, specifically the following:

1. Why was Ken re-signed prior to the stated August timeline?
2. Why was the August timeline stated to the public in the first place?
3. Why was August deemed to be the designated time to negotiate? Given that finals are in September, to negotiate in August suggests the Club do not care about how they perform in September, but rather performances in March through July have more weight. Can the Board prove this to be to the contrary?

I maintain that if the Club has extended Ken both prior to the August timeline and prior to finals, should the Club fail to fire again in September, it is imperative that someone challenges Koch for the top job on the Board - preferably an outsider who will dismantle the Board as is currently structured and bring in a fresh new group who are committed to winning when it actually counts. And given the vastness of what RussellEbertHandball refers to as the Port Adelaide Network, that shouldn't be exactly hard to accomplish.

If this Board has extended Ken now off 3 straight defeats it shows they're not here to win.

If they have renewed his contract, hopefully they have reduced his base wage allowing more funding for the rest of the football department. Get better assistant/specialist coaches.
This leads to the next question, wasn’t there a requirement from AFL Coaches association that assistant coaches were to be told by July if they would be offered a new contract?
Have our assistants been guaranteed/informed that their jobs are safe?

Lol waiting for a win .. were a realistic chance of not winning another game. Imagine the reaction if they announce it in the middle of a losing streak.

Kane is an utter piece of shit and I wouldn't trust a word he says anyway.

Is anyone actually on board to re-sign him ? I haven't met anyone who really thinks we should offer him another contract. Mind you I live in Victoria and most of these people are not Port fans , which says everything.
Yes. I know the knives are out but remember when Richmond lost three games on the trot in 2017 and their supporters had the knives out for Hardwick.

Ken Hinkley has been a success at Port the same way Tony Lockett and Lance Franklin were a success for Sydney.
Sure the average fan would say Lockett and Franklin were failures at Sydney because the Swans didn't win any silverware while they were there but other KPIs such as marketing, crowds, memberships and fan engagement would suggest they were a success.

Yep that's why I played football and have supported my club all those years.

And all wrong....

Marketing...the KHFC basically uses the history of the club. The media pump up the KHFC.He is not publicised

Crowds. Bump from AO now on the way down

Membership ...see above He is not promoted.

Fan engagement was the best in the AFL...Now...it does not get reported want to know why?

He might meet his nice people metric and I am sure he is good when you see him at family and Geelong reunions but based on 150 years of my club and it's metrics should have been sacked years ago.

What a load of bullsh*t. Lockett and Franklin are champions of the game and of their position. The fact that the club didn't win a flag does not diminish the success they had in their role. The coach is responsible for the success of the team and that means flags dimwit which seems to be lost on you. Ken Hinkley is the longest serving coach at a single club never to reach a grand final. That is a failure so go and have a cry on daddy's shoulder.

Both those players played in a Grand Final.

Also an added question - if you were happy to make an early decision why not at Round 3 this year or at the end of 2022?
