So what's the biggy with the medi sub, can't stand the conspiracy theories Fox trying to implant "will be looked at over the week"
Pretty simple really, carries a previous injury, Neale as insurance.
And not outside the rules, don't recall any other side being questioned about their sub, all a bloody forced controversy.
Just media discussion. Obvioulsy the AFL doesnt care as has been going on all year without official comment. It is not really a medi sub. Just a sub (Richmond proudly used it for cramp!)

Agree the team is probably more settled now than at any time I can remember, the odd player has a bad quarter, but not consistently enough to take away from the role they play and usually play to a high standard. Like Kola, love his marking ability, hate him when he thinks before kicking down the line, should be banned forever from kicking across the ground.

Miers of the forwards he has no wriggle room, he ain’t a marking target like Rohan who effectively plays a defensive forward role, and he’s miles off close and Stengle. Although it great that it’s these guys we are talking about being in the bottom two than having Higgins or Dahl being in the conversation.

The difference between Geelong having the younger blokes like Holmes, Close, Henry, SDK and a few others, and the fitness of Cameron and Isaac Smith, with nice penetrating kicking is light years over the 30m donkey-drops that the aforementioned blokes seemed to produce, and in the case of Higgins, the fumbling and lack of surety with the footy. So much more dynamism now and the ability to counter-attack with smart and fast ball use, being able to answer challenges thrown down by the opposition. Certainly the side is much better now that those two are not best 22. Can never doubt Dahl's commitment but unfortunately he's given all he can in his career and is a spent force now.

They must be so proud of him this year (and even i guess last year in the SANFL), Tyson's been a special and brilliant addition to Geelong's side this year. Dangerous goalkicking forward and also a great pressure player and occasional mid. Certainly his impact this season for Geelong has been probably beyond anyone's wildest dreams. Well done young man!

Think Menegola will take Miers spot
forgot about him - I think he might struggle to push his way back in. Which is amazing to think about.

Stewart for sure in. Parf I reckon is also in ahead of Gola? So I think Miers is already out along with a MOC/Zuthrie (which is stiff for all 3 of those). So for Gola to get back in you need to find me one more out? If miers out no one from the forward line is out…if Danger/Selwood stay (which they will for finals) then don’t think a midfielder (or wing: Smith/Holmes stay) come out…So left with the back? Already taken one of MOC/Zuthie out so are they really going to take a Kolo out (or both MOC/Zuthrie) for Gola? Maybe they will?

Nice problem to have

Of course chances are there will be one or two injured which makes selection easier at the end (but winning premiership harder)

Maybe they're actually a "Port" member but attend the games supporting the opposition team - I've read an article or two on a couple that took out a membership for one of the two SA teams (can't remember which side), whom they don't actually support but it allows them to attend matches & support their team when they play at AO

They've also taken up the option to support all opposition team playing against the team for whom they have a membership - they also have a full set of opposition team outfits (guernsey, scarf, headwear etc) just to complete the look

That is truly living on the edge of their health and welfare.

With the 7 goals between them today, Hawkins and Cameron have combined for 101 goals for the season thus far.

The last time we had two players kick 100 goals between them for the season was 2011 (Podsiadly 52, SJ 50).

Surely Tom Atkins wins the Carji

Q3 Centre bounce attendances:

20.00 - Blicavs, Dangerfield, Guthrie, Atkins
18.12 - Blicavs, Dangerfield, Guthrie, Atkins
16.45 - Neale, Guthrie, Blicavs, Holmes
16.24 - Neale, Guthrie, Blicavs, Holmes
14.14 - Neale, Atkins, Blicavs, Holmes
10.24 - Neale, Guthrie, Atkins, Selwood
8.58 - Blicavs, Guthrie, Atkins, Selwood
8.15 - Blicavs, Dangerfield, Guthrie, Atkins
2.53 - Neale, Dangerfield, Guthrie, Blicavs
1.42 - Neale, Dangerfield, Guthrie, Blicavs
Good research.

So really was just down across the board. Although Selwood not in there much? And Danger too much?

The game i think we will drop will be the Suns, would not be first time going to QLD and having a holiday
a lot premiership teams lose to a non finalist in the last month. Would rather lose that one than and beat Bulldogs and St Kilda (knock both of those out). Don’t want to drop last game against WC either - need to be finely tuned by then?

Out of curiosity, does anyone know the record for the most rookies (current or former) to have played in the same AFL match?

I know it's not the first time these guys have all played alongside each other, but tonight we had 8 players who all started their careers on the rookie list:
  • Cat A: Atkins, Close, Z. Guthrie, Henry & Stengle
  • Cat B: Blicavs, O'Connor & Tuohy

That's third of our senior team coming from the rookie list - love that we're sitting top of the ladder while bucking the idea of the need for those early draft picks

Any win interstate is to be savored. This one was particularly satisfying as Port threw the proverbial kitchen sink at us.

As others have mentioned the efforts of Atkins in that last quarter was huge. Hawkins as well.

You have to hand it to Scott this year. Time and again he’s been able to recalibrate our team at the end of a poor quarter and get us playing good footy again. It’s happened on multiple occasions.

Looking forward to getting Stewart back this week. Parfitt as well. Going to be tough competition for spots with Menegola also available.

Years gone past I reckon we lose that game when the home side in a hostile environment gets back from a lead to be in front in the last.. Feels like a different side, different hardness and ability to regain control.

Axe was monumental in the last, and Guth also really good... the mid though was a real worry in the 3rd.
But bar one quarter (albeit a pretty bad one) the other 3qs were a really professional showing, we absorbed pressure, counter attacked well and some of our transition from the backline was breathtaking.

Kinda feel the Rhys sub was planned, or worst case he wasn't quite 100% and they had Neale as back up just in case and at half time pulled the trigger to get him a rest.
I thought Danger was really poor and he needs to adjust his game a bit, the full length dive stuff I just don't think he needs, even though I'm certain the below the knee free he gave away he had a hand on the ball so surely that's in danger?

I have absolutely no idea at all the make up of this side come finals, going to be some unlucky players.. The desperation though of basically every player at different times is so good to see.. Complete buy in among the group and red hot competition for spots

Good call. Was thinking same last week.

Some might argue that Cats have done just as well with rookies as they have with main draft picks (in percentage terms - success of rookies looks pretty hIgh). Let’s hope our man Ollie adds to that story over next couple of years. And all of those rookies (other than 2E) have a lot of years to play yet
