A few alternate versions there. White did play a few consecutive games at VFL level and other than his first game performed very well. I would say in the very least it ran him into what was to become his best form with us.

He got called up for the Carlton game, where there was no Cloke. However, he played in the back line to start with and was doing OK. Reid was played forward in a new look setup (Reid & Moore - back to the future?) but got injured early and it forced them to switch Jesse forward where he proceeded to play quite well (compared to our forwards like Cloke at that point). The rest was history, they left him forward for the rest of the season and he played some of his best footy before fading as he does.

So Jesse was given about a quarter and a half at AFL level as a defender. Personally I think Jesse would have been a revelation had he been kept back, in the same way Liam Jones has been. I think it was the only chance to save his career. Its probably too late to try it now, but I remain frustrated that we never gave it a proper go in the same way its frustrating they haven't properly committed to playing Reid forward. Our inability to be flexible and think outside the square has restricted us and is my main criticism of Bucks.
1 game + a quarter and a half.

He played against Melbourne in defence in round 4 and was promptly dropped back to the VFL before returning for the Carlton game.

Lot of talk about Mason Cox being capable of being a # 1 ruck.

It's left field and am not saying I think we should but what do we think par value for Brodie Grundy is on the open market?

Given our recent form at the trade table, pick 906 and a swift kick in the teeth.

Having said that, if we could get decent value for him I think that Cox could do a decent job of being #1 ruck. I love Grundy but I tend to think Cox looks alright in the ruck and it would give him something to do rather than look lost in the forward 50.

Would not consider anything less than 2 first round picks. Is top 3 ruckman and has too much upside, is so young and will only improve. Can't see us trading him. Cox as #1 doesn't sound good to me. People at the club I've spoke to love Brodie and he is much loved

Two top 10's. Rucks with his combination of age, ability and potential are as rare as hen's teeth.

Having said that I'll spew if we let him go.

Would he go anywhere bar SA? If not the market is soft with both SA clubs having good rucks.

I'd trade Cox. He could be of interest to the dogs.

Will be hard to find someone willing to pay that much to make it worth it.

Used to be a massive fan of Grundy and he's winning hitouts but he's just lacking so much awareness around contests to make these taps count.

I'd add Cox is a very capable centre bounce tap ruck.

Clearly better at finding a target than Brodie IMHO but I still believe we would be mad to trade Grundy. I still think Cox can make it - get his speed up a bit and get him leading a bit more + filling in for ruck. I wouldn't be surprised if Darcy ends up CHB.

Grundy, Moore and maybe Elliot are pretty much the only three untradeable players on our list IMO. Could possibly throw Howe and JDG in now too. Everyone else on the table for the right price. But trading those blokes would be madness.

Reg hasn't hit peak yet and is an extra midfielder that is now regularly getting over 40 hitouts p/g. That's a very rare combination. Gotta keep

Who plays key forward?

If we sent him to market (which I'm adamantly against) you'd have to want early draft pick something top 3 or 4 at least.

Problem is Cox would have little to no trade value. I'd rather keep him
Cox would have some trade value to a side scrambling to find a first ruck.
But nowhere near what Grundy could yield (horrible idea by the way.)

One thing Cox does have is the height. Do he offers an ok to capable rucking option.

I agree, he doesn't seem to be a good thinking player, hopefully he improves that part of his game

I'm not up for trading Grundy, Cox is a good ruckman, but lacks the footy smarts and will be 27 next year. If he were to take the #1 spot, who would we have if he broke down or decided in a few years time that he's had enough?
Grundy is 23, played 80 odd games and has 25 goals, Brodie is a long term investment, could be a 250 gamer as a ruckman/forward, if anything I'd be rotating Grundy, Cox and Moore through the full forward/ruck position.
Cox is a suck it and see investment. Hmmm...do we do phrasing anymore?
If I had to cut one it would be Mason and I like him both as a player and person, but for the good of the club, Grundy for me.

It would be a gutsy call. I personally don't think it would be a great idea though. He's one of the few real shining lights by position on our list in that age group. If we were to be forced because Grundy wants to leave we're in a position to make the most out of a bad situation, but I wouldn't force the issue.

What would you expect for him?

Imo Moore could be a superstar at CHB.
