It felt at times watching this year that we were playing the exact same gamestyle that Richo brought in except with Max King at the end of it instead of Mccartin. Massive momentum swings due to effort/intent, and go into our shells when it doesn't work. We need to move past this style. For what it's worth, I wanted Ratten and I think most of us did. He seems like a good man and a decent coach and I don't know whether it's our list or his coaching but something needs to change dramatically.

Absolutely astounded.

Not just because we sacked another coach but we sacked them on the back of an internal review that just MUST have shown up some glaring issues that could not continue.

And then they acted on it. Basset should be commended for this ultimately. Sure, the extension is a **** up, but having the balls to know that if they didnt do the cut now, it would cost just so much more over the next couple of years. Absolutely ruthless decision.

Who cares about the money.. The Prez can pay that out of the centre console of his BMW.

I like Ratts. Great bloke. Feel sorry for him. He made the place feel like a family. However those losses in 2021 and 2022 where we just didn't show up burned any and all trust. Gameplan was trash and just not good enough against the top eight.

Next few weeks should be mad fun. Will get absolutely roasted by the usual suspects in the media. At least it wont be a Scott brother.

Nigel Lappin from the Cats? Trying to think of untried candidates who are currently assistants at the top clubs.

Or we go full left field and bring in Paul Roos to guide us like he did with Melbourne before Goodwin took over
Nigel Lappin 🤔

High rated at Geelong

The St Kilda coaching job would have to the biggest challenge in Footy ..... your mission if accepted is to coach St Kilda to their 2nd Premeirship

17 coaches have tried and failed after Jeans

28 coaches before Jeans tried and failed

I would take Hird in a heartbeat. Couldn’t give a s**t about his past indiscretions. He’s a competitive beast with ultra high standards. Bloke doesn’t know how to lose.

I actually didn't mind Ratten, from the outside looking in it seemed he had the boys on side and we had some decent hard fought wins but I must admit things came to ahead with the round 15 loss against Sydney to make me question his ability to adapt gameplans when things aren't working and to motivate his side when down.
Kinda Sucks but not surprised.

You don't like it?

Give me Jaymie Graham.

What's the bet James Gallagher gets whacked two days after the Draft is over?

Don't mind the ruthlessness if there's a strategy behind it.

My favourite film of all-time :D

Have a framed movie poster of this in the lounge

Everyone who was involved in re-signing Ratten mid year must go. Everyone who voted for it has to go. From board to CEO to President.

See the problem with this is it's fine for revenge but it's also a recipe for not improving as an organisation. You bring in completely new people and then they don't remember how the mistake was made and why. Whereas a smart org works out which ones are irredeemable, cuts them quickly, and keeps the ones who can learn from their mistakes. That's a recipe for growth.

Surely the review must have revealed that the players had completely lost faith in him, that's the only way I can imagine them pulling the trigger at this point.

In fact I wonder if some of the strongest opinions might have come from the more senior guys who have perspective and who are leaving anyway. Hanners, Paddy, even Gears. Maybe some pretty robust exit interviews from them was the nail in his coffin.

They’ll probably get Yze to stop gringo sooking.

Until Yze ultimately fails and gringo starts sooking again.

Gringo has been proven right once more, his supposed sooking has been vindicated
Vindicated? In part.

However if gringo had been Pres we’d now be doing a Norf with Clarko in the holding pen.
