Wow, mixed feeling here. On one hand, it would've been great if they exercised some common sense and waited until the end of the season to make a call on renewing his contract. It would've been apparent after we went 3-8 that he wasn't the man to take us forward.

We've just had a trade period that didn't improve our best 22 at all and you've got to wonder if having a new coach could've attracted some useful players to the club. I also wonder if Ratten would still have a job if De Goey decided to sign with us.

In the end, I'm glad that we made the tough call eventually, even if I think it should've been made sooner. It beats repeating the last 1.5 seasons of Richo's era.

Bring on someone who will get serious about implementing standards and high level tactics.

Suspect the club thought the extension needed to happen to provide stability in the playing group and focus on whatever chance we had to play finals. Ratts' contract extension was already becoming a media distraction.

The ability for the club to change course based on new information is important. Externally it might look bad but this was absolutely the right action to take.

We all know Ratts wasn't the guy.

Forget about the money this decision burns, having Ratts stay would likely cost us a lot more. We'll only know in 12 months time if we made the right choice financially.

Lethers had already been moved out of the football side of things back into the admin side of things which is where he belongs.


Allowing admin types like he and Bains to be the main guys leading our football side has been a disaster.

Walsh an actually football type now gets to rebuild our football side with a new head coach. Let's hope he shows Rath the door too as his meddling in our game plan has been a failure.

Yes the mistake was made, but now seemingly on the back of intervention from the prez it's been rectified and you can take it to the bank the move was held off bad publicity till after trade period finished. F****** great!

I cannot believe we've done that 6 months after re-signing him, but I actually love the move. I wanted to give the guy a chance but it was more unlikely than likely that he'd turn the ship around, tried coaches have a hard time of success the 2nd time they're in the job.

It seems recent promotions or extensions don't matter for us now, so Lethers and whoever else may still be on notice. Perhaps Gags did nothing this trade period as to not touch the list before he too gets the arse? All just speculation from my end of course.

Honestly shocked but deep down I like it.

Please, for the love of God, let's go after untried now. Yze, Hayes, whoever else is available.

We never played football this year like a well drilled team. Even when things were going our way. I only felt comfortable when our players were hunting the contests because it affected the others teams confidence allowing the game to be more of a level playing field.

We relied on momentum to much. Even in those patch’s. Our system wasn’t functioning well. Teams would move the ball with greater intent and purpose.

Personally, not unhappy he’s gone; seemed a nice bloke, but mediocre coach.
