SOS had Sam Power working under him as recruiter and then Michael Agresta - although SOS made the calls on list management strategy and trading, it was really Power and then Agresta who did the drafting at the Blues.

SOS traded horribly when list manager at Carlton, blowing multiple early picks on GWS rejects... but Shane Rogers, Paul Brodie and now Nick Austin were the guys who made calls on who was drafted.

These guys ultimately report to SOS though as list manager, so he's not free from culpability. If they're not up to it, then SOS needs to pull the trigger and replace them.

I don't see the issue with SOS, he's extremely highly respected in the industry and sometimes that is what you need to get deals done with other clubs.

Looks like George's press credentials have been sent to Avi Yemeni's address by accident.
People can have a dig, that's fine. I will screenshot it when it comes through.

All shall be revealed and the truth shall set you free :cool:

You will get it when they announce the presser.

They won’t send a 7am media release to announce he got the job.

Which is what I was trying to tell your dumb ass

My fears have been confirmed. We are making a massive, massive mistake.

The fashion choices of all 3 are a lot to be desired.

We all know what is going to happen today but lets just take a second to think of the following and how we felt:

  • When Ratts got re-signed.
  • During trade week where it felt we were going no where and we weren't doing anything.

Crazy what can happen just a few short weeks later. Look at the turn around on the forum since. Bloody sensational.

Love this club.. Again.

No, dumbass, they'd send a media release to announce a press conference later today.

And you were checking at 7am when they hadn’t announced the coach moron.
Checking to see if an e-mail came through about a press conference, not a confirmation of what the press conference was about, moron.

Last weeks e-mail didn't detail Ratten was being sacked it just said there's a press conference at Moorabbin at 11.30.

That's how these things work...you'd know if you were as important as me

It is understood that the appointment of Lyon could result in other key figures from his first stint returning to the club, including dual All-Australian Brendon Goddard, Brownlow Medal winner Robert Harvey and fitness boss David Misson.

Here is the job for the boys gif was referring by too.

The club sends a "we are doing a press conference at xx.xx" email to the media.
Poor Stav just wants to be in on the action. It's okay, I might talk to my supreme contacts at the club and see if we can get him on it too

Gee lads let it go, are we arguing about press conference times..??

It’s a day to celebrate

It's always difficult to separate who does what but if SOS replaces Gags then I assume Toce remains as National Recruiting Manager.

So;

SOS looks after the entire list strategy (future planning, trading, free agents, etc)- Gags' role.

Toce (& his team) decide which names get called out at the National & Rookie Drafts.

Sometimes blokes get the credit (or the heat) for decisions that were outside their specific duties. SOS traded horribly when list manager at Carlton, blowing multiple early picks on GWS rejects... but Shane Rogers, Paul Brodie and now Nick Austin were the guys who made calls on who was drafted.

I actually looked up the 2015 deal that bought in a huge amount of GWS players.

Carlton traded Lauchie Henderson for Geelong's future first then added 28, 77, 95
Traded all that for pick 8, Lamb, Phillips, Plowman, Sumner.
Traded Tom Bell to Brisbane for 21.
Traded pick 21 and 22 to the Dogs for 11.
Ended up with Harry McKay and Curnow, Cunningham and Silvagni.

At the time it got plenty of laughs but right now that looks like an elite year.

Lmao, noted, I need to make my sarcasm more obvious.

  • When Ratts got re-signed. - meh. I saw the reasoning. Was happy at 8-3 at 8-6 and the mental weakness of the team exposed, I was a bit more concerned.
  • When Ratts got re-signed. - pretty flat, as I had been since about July. I had dropped off going to the football, and was getting disinterested, the non trade period capped it off. I downgraded my membership for various reason just not a fit of pique.
  • The moment Ross Lyon is named coach, I am on the phone to membership to upgrade as the club has done exactly what I wanted, a radical change to give some hope, just not drift around mid table as they have for the past ten years.
